Create a simple number guessing game in python |
https://dev.to/code_jedi/create-a-simple-number-guessing-game-in-python-41l
|
Create a simple number guessing game in pythonHey everyone in this beginner tutorial I ll show how you can make a super simple number guessing game in python Let s get started First you will need to require the random library in order to generate random numbers import randomNext print the conditions of the game at the beginning import randomprint Pick a number from to Then define the function in which you will be writing your main code import randomprint Pick a number from to def game The first things you ll need to put in this function are import randomprint Pick a number from to def game random number random randrange typed number int input Type your number here print random number Using the randrange function you will randomly generate a number ranging from to then you will ask the player to type a number using the input function and finally print the randomly generated number to let the player compare the random number with his her typed number The final part of your function should look like this int rand int random number if int rand typed number print You win else print Try again Let me explain each line of code int rand will convert random number into an integer using the int function This will compare int rand with typed number if both numbers are equal to each other You win will be printed on the screen if both numbers aren t equal to each other Try again will be printed on the screen At this point your code should look something like this import randomprint Pick a number from to def game random number random randrange typed number int input Type your number here print random number int rand int random number if int rand typed number print You win else print Try again Lastly you need to put this function in an infinite while loop so that the game won t stop until the player guesses correctly you will also need to put a break function inside the if statement so that once the player guessed correctly the function would break out of the while loop therefor stopping the guessing game and as a last step put the game function at the end of the file to execute the function import randomprint Pick a number from to def game while lt random number random randrange typed number int input Type your number here print random number int rand int random number if int rand typed number print You win break else print Try again game That s it for this beginner python tutorial if you have any problems with the code let me know in the comments Byeeeeee |

15 Custom Hooks to Make your React Component Lightweight |
https://dev.to/nilanth/15-custom-hooks-to-make-your-react-component-lightweight-17cd
|
Custom Hooks to Make your React Component LightweightHere are the custom hooks to make your React component lightweightReact hooks is the trending word in the React community I hope every React developer knows what hooks are In simple words hooks give the advantage to use lifecycle methods in functional components and also encourages us to write functional components Let s dive into custom hooks Custom hooks let you extract component logic into a reusable function which increases component splitting and reliability Here we will see react use package custom hooks that make our component lightweight useIdleThe useIdle hook tracks if the user on the page is idle You can pass two params ーone is time to consider idle and initialState which allows the setting user is idle initially import useIdle from react use const Demo gt const isIdle useIdle e return lt div gt lt div gt User is idle isIdle Yes Nope lt div gt lt div gt useIntervalThis hook to use for interval related functionalities Which handles clearInterval on component unmount automatically It also allows pausing the interval by setting the delay to null import as React from react import useInterval from react use const Demo gt const count setCount React useState const delay setDelay React useState const isRunning toggleIsRunning useBoolean true useInterval gt setCount count isRunning delay null return lt div gt lt div gt delay lt input value delay onChange event gt setDelay Number event target value gt lt div gt lt h gt count count lt h gt lt div gt lt button onClick toggleIsRunning gt isRunning stop start lt button gt lt div gt lt div gt useScrollThis hook is used to listen to the scroll event of the element and rerenders on scrolling No required to add the JavaScript event listeners manually import useScroll from react use const Demo gt const scrollRef React useRef null const x y useScroll scrollRef return lt div ref scrollRef gt lt div gt x x lt div gt lt div gt y y lt div gt lt div gt useToggleThis hook is used to toggle between two states like TRUE FALSE This approach reduces the manual logic import useToggle from react use const Demo gt const on toggle useToggle true return lt div gt lt div gt on ON OFF lt div gt lt button onClick toggle gt Toggle lt button gt lt button onClick gt toggle true gt set ON lt button gt lt button onClick gt toggle false gt set OFF lt button gt lt div gt useTitleThis hook is used to set the page title import useTitle from react use const Demo gt useTitle Hello world return null usePreviousThis hook is used to get the previous state We might not require to write custom logic to get the previous state import usePrevious from react use const Demo gt const count setCount React useState const prevCount usePrevious count return lt p gt lt button onClick gt setCount count gt lt button gt lt button onClick gt setCount count gt lt button gt lt p gt Now count before prevCount lt p gt lt p gt useSetStateThis hook is used to merge objects into their current state similar to the this setState in the class component If you are using multiple states it can be brought down to a single object state using useSetStateimport useSetState from react use const Demo gt const state setState useSetState return lt div gt lt pre gt JSON stringify state null lt pre gt lt button onClick gt setState hello world gt hello lt button gt lt button onClick gt setState foo bar gt foo lt button gt lt button onClick gt setState prevState gt count prevState count gt count lt button gt lt div gt useCookieThis hook is used to return the current value of a cookie a callback to update the cookie and a callback to delete the cookie import useCookie from react use const Demo gt const value updateCookie deleteCookie useCookie my cookie const counter setCounter useState useEffect gt deleteCookie const updateCookieHandler gt updateCookie my awesome cookie counter setCounter c gt c return lt div gt lt p gt Value value lt p gt lt button onClick updateCookieHandler gt Update Cookie lt button gt lt br gt lt button onClick deleteCookie gt Delete Cookie lt button gt lt div gt usePermissionThis hook is used to get the permission status of the browser API Pass the API name to get the permission status import usePermission from react use const Demo gt const state usePermission name microphone return lt pre gt JSON stringify state null lt pre gt useDebounceThis hook is used to delay the event until the wait time is completed In the blew code the setState is performed after the wait time is completed const Demo gt const state setState React useState Typing stopped const val setVal React useState const debouncedValue setDebouncedValue React useState const cancel useDebounce gt setState Typing stopped setDebouncedValue val val return lt div gt lt input type text value val placeholder Debounced input onChange currentTarget gt setState Waiting for typing to stop setVal currentTarget value gt lt div gt state lt div gt lt div gt Debounced value debouncedValue lt button onClick cancel gt Cancel debounce lt button gt lt div gt lt div gt useGeolocationThis hook is used to get the user geolocation useGeolocation returns latitude longitude altitude and more info import useGeolocation from react use const Demo gt const state useGeolocation return lt pre gt JSON stringify state null lt pre gt useNetworkStateThis hook is used to get the network status of the browser useNetworkState can be used the show the connection status to the user import useNetworkState from react use const Demo gt const state useNetworkState return lt pre gt JSON stringify state null lt pre gt useCopyToClipboarduseCopyToClipboard hook is used to copy the text to the clipboard const Demo gt const text setText React useState const state copyToClipboard useCopyToClipboard return lt div gt lt input value text onChange e gt setText e target value gt lt button type button onClick gt copyToClipboard text gt copy text lt button gt state error lt p gt Unable to copy value state error message lt p gt state value amp amp lt p gt Copied state value lt p gt lt div gt useFaviconThe useFavicon hook is used to set the favicon of the page import useFavicon from react use const Demo gt useFavicon return null useErroruseError hook is used to dispatch errors import useError from react use const Demo gt const dispatchError useError const clickHandler gt dispatchError new Error Some error return lt button onClick clickHandler gt Click me to throw lt button gt In parent appconst App gt lt ErrorBoundary gt lt Demo gt lt ErrorBoundary gt ConclusionThere are some more custom hooks in the react use package I hope you have found this useful Thank you for reading Need to learn more Feel free to connect on Twitter |

5 Habits Of A Successful Programmer |

Habits Of A Successful ProgrammerHello buddies Every successful programmer has their own habits So today we are going to see what are the habits of successful programmer Wait how do you define successful In this article Victoria Lo has defined being successful as To me personally being successful is to be respected by others And to be respected is to respect othersBefore reading that article I have read multiple articles which define success as Rich Cars Houses etc But I agree with Victoria s saying Anyway back to the topic Write Reusable Readable and Clean CodeThere are various ways to write clean code that is easy to test read and use but it is an increasingly important aspect of high quality software development regardless of the method Successful programmers give only one goal to each function When you begin coding you usually start writing line by line into an increasingly larger function or method It may seem at first simpler but it causes other problems The code is difficult to test more difficult to use again and more difficult to read One thing and one thing only should be done by a function You don t focus if it does more than one thing It s a common practice to give specific and valuable names to variables and functions which should be easier if you write each function for a specific purpose Use a code beautifier to make your code more easily readable It is important to understand quickly and easily what you are supposed to do when you come back to your code weeks after you write it Listen Carefully Rather Than SpeakingIf you re with other developers in a meeting first listen then speak about it because this is the easiest way to learn Humility is needed especially when you believe you are the most intelligent person in the room Good developers are able and happy to confess if they don t know You should not be the programmer who sprays a lot of technical jargon instead of acknowledging that he may not be aware of the solution to a certain question DisciplineTalent is not everything except perhaps in vast numbers Talent or ability is indeed only part of the performance process Another part is discipline A professional software engineer or programmer without discipline is like a veteran navigator without a map Quality should not be sacrificed for speed But you are mindful of the technological obligations you generate and seek to repay in the future if you sacrifice the quality for speed You should take steps as you know that you have been set up to help developers achieve During code analysis you should be fully involved The importance of time for development work should also be understood Focus on The Right Thing At The Right TimeSuccessful programmers have the willingness to concentrate on the common goal of a specific project without being sidetracked by lazy optimism that doesn t really get them closer to their goal Many programmers work on different things even if they know the proper solution is something else You might know when you step back a little that you are putting a lot of effort into something which really isn t important to the larger objective that everyone tries to achieve It is certainly good to look ahead at times as long as you can focus on what you know you need to do over what you may need to do Much of this is to ensure that your wavelength is the same as the rest of the team Effective programmers acknowledge that teamwork leads to innovation Acquire New Skills with TimeA further condition is to be flexible and to embrace new things if necessary Highly successful developers and programmers actively read about and apply new developments happening in the market New frameworks methodologies and languages are constantly being developed which are being filtered with by successful software engineers which enable them to do their best and to evolve The key to a successful software engineer is undoubtedly the ability to acquire new skills With the completion of a computer science degree or a specific language course the learning process doesn t stop It doesn t stop if you get hired A successful programmer should be learning whenever he can and whenever necessary You should not focus on learning only one language You should equip yourself with the latest frameworks and languages that are trending in the market So buddies these are the common and good habits of successful programmers developers Hope you learnt something Happy Coding Originally published on Hashnode |
