in new password if char in invalid chars password has invalid chars True breakif password has invalid chars return FalseIn python we can create a function inside a function This function becomes local to the function it is within The problem would be that we can not test the local function directly For the sake of testing we put all functions outside the is valid password function def contains character password str sack str gt bool has char False for char in password if char in sack has char True break return has charLet s update those parts of the is valid password function Now snippets like this password has something Falsefor char in password if char in somethings password has something True breakif not password has something return FalseWill become if not contains character password somethings return FalseThis is will different though for the invalid characters invalid chars When there is an invalid character return False So when the function returns True return False It seems we can abstract password size lt MIN SIZE or password size gt MAX SIZE password size lt MIN SIZE or password siz gt MAX SIZE makes use of MIN SIZE and MAX SIZE Do we pass them as arguments No I think we shouldn t We should rather make them local to the new function Let s create this function is valid size def is valid size password str gt bool MIN SIZE MAX SIZE password size len password our true success That is when the password is in the desired range We should write functions that return True on success and False on failure So our new function will be better if we return password
