Just keep coding just keep coding I am motivated to share my learning journey to support this initiative Here goes something hope this helps Right before Covid started around th November I joined this start up weekend workshop for Women in Bali Indonesia It was a great workshop where they d teach you how to start a start up Some of the topics and activities includes pitching start up ideas then we d work as a group to figure out the business aspect of our start up using the Business Model Canvas chart We had to do market amp user research then made samples of the UI UX for the app And finally we had to pitch this start up business to the investors a panel of judges who were successful women involved in business start up mainly in Bali These amazing women had also kindly mentored us through out the process What an uplifting experience For me it was a great introduction into the start up world I have learned so much from it Shout out to the organizers for such a great workshop and for focusing on supporting women as well To my surprise my group won the st prize I was quite excited for the souvenirs we d won That usb charger i liked it Anyways my curiosity steered more towards the development of the UI UX So that was the rabbit hole that I chose During covid lockdown in mid I then officially started my web development self learning journey Though I much prefer the term community taught Fast forward to today I have tracked my learning hours which is highly satisfying I highly recommend you do this to a total of hours Due to my ridiculous chase of perfection I haven t finished my portfolio Instead I just kept on doing projects Part of the reason is also my fear of rejection and imposter syndrome Which I found out is totally normal for a noob One of my biggest mistake was to let myself get stuck on tutorial hell and to not start uploading my projects on github much earlier But HEY I learned from it Moving on At this stage I have learned enough to know that I will never know enough of anything So I ll keep on coding I ll keep on learning And now I ll answer some of the questions for this post My biggest technical goals are…To grasp more of React framework Vanilla Java script My biggest technical achievements are…This far is that I can make a simple React App I pledge to break the bias in tech by…Motivating more women friends of all nations amp the LGBTQ s community to feel included and loved where ever I will be in the future Throughout my learning I have overcome…Self doubt I pledge to support women non binary folks and other minorities in tech by…Being kind and supportive I m excited about…A more diverse future where everyone is supporting each other kind to one another and to Mother Earth Peace and love to all being lt Cheers |

The iPad Air is getting a big boost to performance thanks to Apple s M chipAfter almost a year and a half since its last refresh the iPad Air is finally getting an update And while its design hasn t changed a ton new features on Apple s fifth gen mid range tablet include optional G connectivity and a huge boost in performance With the previous iPad Air being Apple s first tablet to feature an edge to edge screen a power button with an integrated TouchID sensor and the flat sided chassis Apple has used on subsequent iPads e g the iPad Pro and iPad Mini the device s exterior didn t need much of a facelift So for Apple focused more on equipping the latest iPad Air with revamped components both inside and out nbsp The iPad Air s front facing ultra wide camera has gotten a new sensor that supports Center Stage which uses machine learning to automatically track and follow your head and keep you properly in frame during FaceTime calls Meanwhile for people who need fast mobile data the new iPad Air can also be configured with optional G connectivity nbsp AppleBut on the inside the biggest upgrade is the addition of Apple s M chip which should give the iPad Air a major boost in performance putting it on the same level as the more expensive iPad Pro line Thanks to its new processor Apple claims the new iPad Air is now twice as fast as a similarly priced Windows laptop Unfortunately it seems the tablet s storage hasn t gotten a boost in size as the base model still comes with a relatively small GB SSD or GB if you pay for the upgrade The iPad Air s screen size will remain the same at inches with peak brightness also standing pat at nits And as before Apple s mid range tablet still works with a range of accessories including the Apple Pencil Magic Keyboard and the Smart Keyboard Folio The iPad Air will be available in five colors space gray starlight pink purple and blue starting at the same price as the previous model with the new G model going for Pre orders will go live this Friday with official sales beginning on March th nbsp Catch up on all of the news from Apple s Peek Performance event right here |

Leveraging OpenTelemetry to democratize Cloud Spanner ObservabilityToday we re announcing the launch of an OpenTelemetery receiver for Cloud Spanner which provides an easy way for you to process and visualize metrics from Cloud Spanner System tables and export these to the APM tool of your choice We have also built a reference integration with Prometheus and sample Grafana dashboards which customers can use as a template for their own troubleshooting needs This receiver is available starting version v Whether you are a database admin or a developer it is important to have tools that help you understand the performance of your database detect if something goes wrong elevated latencies increased error rates reduced throughput etc and identify the root cause of these signals Cloud Spanner offers a wide portfolio of Observability tools that allow you to easily monitor database performance diagnose and fix potential issues However some of our customers would like to have the flexibility of consuming Cloud Spanner metrics in their own observability tooling which could be either an open source combination of a time series database like Prometheus coupled with a Grafana dashboard or it could be a commercial Application Monitoring APM tool like Splunk Datadog Dynatrace NewRelic or AppDynamics The reason is that organizations have already invested in their own observability tooling and don t want to switch since switching to a different vendor or a visualization console will require spending a great deal of effort This is where OpenTelemetry comes in OpenTelemetry is a vendor agnostic observability framework for instrumenting generating collecting and exporting telemetry data traces metrics and logs It integrates with many libraries and frameworks across various languages to offer a large set of automatic instrumentation capabilities The OpenTelemetry ReceiverAn OpenTelemetery receiver is a component of the OpenTelemetery Collector which is built on a Receiver Exporter model and by installing the new receiver for Cloud Spanner and configuring a corresponding exporter developers can now export metrics to their APM tool of choice This architecture offers a vendor agnostic implementation on how to receive process and export telemetry data It removes the need to run operate and maintain multiple agents collectors which send traces and metrics in proprietary formats to one or more tracing and or metrics backends Cloud Spanner has a number of introspection tools in the form of System Tables built in tables that you can query to gain helpful insights about operations in Spanner such as queries reads and transactions Now with the introduction of the OpenTelemetry receiver for Cloud Spanner developers can now consume these metrics and visualize them in their APM tool Reference ImplementationAs a reference implementation we have created a set of sample dashboards on Grafana which consume metrics both from Prometheus exported by the OpenTelemetery Collector and Cloud monitoring to enable an end to end debugging experience NOTE Instead of deploying a self managed instance of Prometheus customers can now also use Google s managed service for Prometheus Using this service will let you monitor and alert on your workloads using Prometheus without having to manually manage and operate Prometheus at scale Learn
