海外TECH	DEV Community	Collaborative Infrastructure as Code using Terraform Cloud - Publishing Modules Private Registries	https://dev.to/pedramha/collaborative-infrastructure-as-code-using-terraform-cloud-publishing-modules-private-registries-3am3	Collaborative Infrastructure as Code using Terraform Cloud Publishing Modules Private RegistriesI d like to start this post with a great quote from The DevOps Handbook which says When new learnings are discovered locally there must also be some mechanismto enable the rest of the organization to use and benefit from that knowledge Infrastructure as Code is not a new concept and it is already used in many projects However collaborating on IaC has not always been easy for developers Many organization are struggling with sharing the knowledge and expertise of their developers with other teams This is a difficult problem that private registries Terraform Cloud Enterprise is aiming to solve In a previous post we had a go on solving the cold starts for Lambda Functions Now we want to help the next person in our team preventing them from reinvent the wheel again This tutorial assumes you already have a Terraform Cloud account if you haven t opened up an account yet please use the links bellow to open one So how do you go about creating a private registry We begin by creating the module that you d like to publish I am using this module I personally prefer adding variables with smart defaults as much as I can Of course the consumer of this module is also going to need some of the outputs of this module to be used in their application e g the ARN of the lambda function so don t forget to add them in the output section After creating the module we are ready to push it into Github Please also be aware of the naming convention for your module which follow the terraform pattern Before we jump to terraform cloud we need to build a release for our project in Github follow this this to build the release OR click on releases on the right pane of your repository click on draft a new release choose a tag for the release should follow x y z versioning pattern give it a title and click on publish and we are good to go Now jump to Terraform Cloud and click on registry then click on modules publish modules If you don t see your VCS provider you need to connect it with Terraform cloud before proceeding please visit this link to do so Choose your repository and click on Publish module Congratulations on publishing your first Terraform Module In the next post I will show you how to consume this module and integrate it into a bigger application The link to the Video Github repo	2022-06-22 16:47:08
海外TECH	DEV Community	Program Error Signals	https://dev.to/bellatrix/program-error-signals-5ape	Program Error SignalsSignals in computers are a way of communication between the process and the OS When a running program undergoes some serious error then the OS sends a signal to the process and the process further may not execute Some processes may have a signal handler that does some important tasks before the process leaves the CPU Error signals generally cause termination of the program and a core dump file is created named core which stores the state of the process at the moment of termination This file can be investigated using the debugger to know the cause of program termination SIGFPE This error signal denotes some arithmetic error that occurred like division by zero or floating point error SIGILL This signal denotes illegal instruction When a garbage instruction or instruction that a program has no privilege to execute is executed then this signal is generated SIGSEGV The signal is generated when a process tries to access a memory location not allocated to it like de referencing a wild pointer which leads to a “segmentation fault SIGBUS The name is an abbreviation for “Bus error This signal is also produced when an invalid memory is accessed SIGABRT If an error itself is detected by the program then this signal is generated using call to abort This signal is also used by the standard library to report an internal error assert function in c also uses abort to generate this signal SIGSYS This signal is sent to process when an invalid argument is passed to a system call SIGTRAP This signal is sent to process when an exception has occurred This is requested by the debugger to get informed For example if a variable changes its value then this will trigger it Thanks for readingHope you will find it helpful	2022-06-22 16:01:19

海外TECH	Engadget	Researchers built a low-cost camera system that recreates sound from vibrations	https://www.engadget.com/optical-microphone-camera-laser-carnegie-mellon-university-164436215.html?src=rss	Researchers built a low cost camera system that recreates sound from vibrationsResearchers at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a camera system that can seemingly detect sound vibrations with a level of precision that makes it possible to recreate the audio without inference or a microphone A team from CMU s School of Computer Science s Robotics Institute RI built the system which has two cameras and a laser It can detect quot high speed low amplitude surface vibrations quot that the human eye can t see the university said in a press release The system features regular cameras rather than high speed ones used in previous research which should lower the cost quot We ve made the optical microphone much more practical and usable quot Srinivasa Narasimhan an RI professor and head of the Illumination and Imaging Laboratory said quot We ve made the quality better while bringing the cost down quot An algorithm compares speckle patterns captured by a rolling shutter and a global shutter It uses the differences between the patterns to calculate the vibrations and recreate the audio A speckle pattern which is created by the laser in this case refers to the behavior of coherent light in space after it s reflected off of a rough surface That behavior changes as the surface vibrates The rolling shutter rapidly scans an image from one end to the other while a global shutter captures an entire image at the same time nbsp quot This system pushes the boundary of what can be done with computer vision quot assistant professor Matthew O Toole a co author of a paper on the system said quot This is a new mechanism to capture high speed and tiny vibrations and presents a new area of research quot The researchers say they were able to isolate the audio of guitars that were being played simultaneously They claim that the system was able to observe a bag of chips and use vibrations from that to reconstruct audio being emitted by a nearby speaker with higher fidelity than previous optical microphone approaches There are a lot of potential applications for this tech The researchers suggest for instance that the system could monitor vibrations from machines in a factory to look for signs of problems Sound engineers could also isolate the sound from an instrument to improve the mix In essence it could help eliminate ambient noise from audio recordings	2022-06-22 16:44:36
