海外TECH DEV Community Procrastination? You just need to break down your task. https://dev.to/ohdylan/procrastination-you-just-need-to-break-down-your-task-1pj6 Procrastination You just need to break down your task Have you ever had difficulty maintaining focus while working from home WFH I believe most of us face this issue when we tried to adapt to WFH and I was one of the victims This was what it looks like when I started WFH I know exactly what task I need to work on but I just couldn t get on it Everything else just seems to be more attractive than the task itself like cleaning your desk or scrolling through social media even when you are clearly aware that there is nothing else new for you to look at Due to this I chose to commute to the office almost every single day to keep myself more productive I had finally decided to look at the root cause of it and started to take action There is the only huge reason that this is happening for me Procrastination caused by FearLike I said earlier I know the things that I have to work on for the day however I have no actionable steps for them The task looks so huge that I just subconsciously escape from it I would rather do anything else that I can to avoid facing the problem Just an example of a software engineering task I need to find out what is the reason for a bug that happened yesterday But the task seems to be too general to start with If I am not in the office on that day I will start to tell myself I need to get myself a cup of coffee before I can start looking at the task or I shall give myself some time to relax to do some house works before I am ready to look at such a complex troubleshooting task But the fact is I will never be “ready to start There is no perfect timing to start but creating smaller subtasks will make the change Next time when you receive a task to work on do not start doing any analysis or brainstorming on the root cause of the issue Just open up your notepad and start writing down a step by step guide for yourself to tackle the issue What I can do for the example task mentioned earlier the task can be broken down into can be in sequence or not Find out the exact timing that the bug happenedLook at the server log to check if there is relevant informationCheck if the bug is replicable in other environmentsLook at the past Jira tickets to see if a similar bug has happened before After you have listed out the to dos for the task you should have an idea of where to start looking and procrastination is not going to hit you hard I have been personally using Notion to keep track of my daily workable tasks this is an example of my daily to dos It seems to be treating yourself like a robot or machine but this is the best way to beat procrastination based on my personal experience and yes I do write out what I want to say during daily stand up in my to dos The reason that I do this is also to prevent myself from spending too much time thinking of what to do while in the midst of deep work If you do also have the problem of focusing while WFH I do encourage you to try listing out all the tasks before the day starts It can be as detailed as possible so that our brain is not suffering when we are executing it Do also follow me for more articles on a variety of topics Dylan Oh Medium Read writing from Dylan Oh on Medium Software Engineer OpenBet Singapore Writes about Software development motivations and financial independence dylanoh medium com 2022-08-22 13:52:00

海外TECH DEV Community Avoid these 7 mental traps as a CTO https://dev.to/ayushjangra/avoid-these-7-mental-traps-as-a-cto-4hf5 Avoid these mental traps as a CTOYou re a CTO You run the show People look to you for direction and leadership You ve got a big job but it s also one of the most exciting careers out there You get to be at the forefront of technology defining how the world around us will work in the future But with this much responsibility comes great opportunity for failure As a CTO it s easy to get caught up in your own ego or lose sight of who you were when you started out as an engineer or coder That s why I m here today To remind all of us what it means to be a true leader and remind all CTOs that they need to keep their feet on solid ground if they want their dreams not just attainable but achievable too As a CTO it s easy to get caught up in mental traps These traps can take many forms but they all have the same thing in common They lead you toward decisions that are bad for your company Here are common pitfalls we ve seen people fall into over the years as CEO and CTO Relying on your vision alone It s important to have a vision but it s even more important to listen Your team and your customers are the ones who will be executing on your vision They ll be the ones who determine whether or not you ve succeeded at building what they need So while it s critical that you have a clear idea of where you want to go don t rely solely on yourself for that vision instead make sure you re listening to all stakeholders and customer feedback Keep the customers in the feedback loop Doubting the people you hire You need to be confident in the people you hire This can be hard especially if you aren t familiar with their work history or background But if you don t give yourself permission to trust their abilities and allow them to do their jobs without micromanaging them you run the risk of alienating them and losing the ability to get buy in from your team on larger company goals Be open to new ideas and new ways of doing things Focusing too much on the competition When you re the CTO you know your company and its customers better than anyone You have to be a visionary for the business and determine where it should go next If your company is going after the same customers as another company then it might make sense to focus on them in your marketing campaigns or even hire away some talent from that competitor But otherwise don t waste time worrying about what they re doing because if they re not thinking about you first then they probably aren t coming up with ways to beat you out of a job in five years time Letting your confidence get in the way We re all familiar with the concept of hubris that sense of pride that makes a person overconfident and self assured This can be good in some situations but it can also be dangerous for the CTO trying to manage a team A CTO who is too confident will come off as dismissive and arrogant which can alienate people from her team If you find yourself constantly saying I know or insisting on your own opinion even when others disagree with it this is an issue worth addressing The best way to avoid this trap Make sure you re asking for feedback from other people on your ideas before moving forward with them which brings us back around to the point about listening Tech debt is an acceptable price to pay for speed This is a dangerous trap to fall into because it s all too easy to justify shortcuts and quick fixes as tech debt rather than admit they are bad code that should be refactored Tech debt is not a good thing but sometimes it is necessary in order for you to get your product out the door quickly The danger here is that if you let tech debt pile up without addressing it you ll end up with so much of this bad code that the cost of cleaning it all up outweighs the benefits of getting your product faster The result is that your product suffers from poor quality and low maintainability because its core functionality wasn t built with care from the start Autonomy trumps collaboration Autonomy is important but don t forget to collaborate We ve all heard the saying “too many cooks spoil the broth That s because when there are too many people involved in a project it can end up being disorganised mess that goes nowhere But what if you re not working on something as simple as cooking soup How do you know if your team has too many cooks The answer depends on what type of work you re doing and how much autonomy each person needs to be effective at their job For example some projects call for extensive collaboration between departments and teams while others require more autonomy and thus less collaboration When deciding whether or not your team has too many cooks consider how much autonomy each person needs in order to do their job effectivelyーand then try to find ways for everyone in the company to get just enough of both Your job is to write code As a CTO your job is to write code That s it You re not a product manager you re the person who manages developers It s not your job to manage projects or make sure people have enough free time or any of that stuff though those things will inevitably come up Your job is literally just to write code and be responsible for the technological aspects of what you re working on the technology itself as well as how it fits into the business model and meets user needs It s important for every CTO to understand their own strengths and weaknesses and what they need from their team in order to succeed If something isn t coming naturally for you find someone who can help fill in those gaps so that you can focus on where your talents lie writing code It s easy to get carried away by a position but remember what got you there in the first place When you get promoted to a new role it s easy to get carried away by the power and influence that come with that position You ll suddenly feel like you re capable of doing anything and everything which can be a dangerous mindset Remember what got you there in the first place If it wasn t luck or chance then it was hard work and dedication both of which are still required for success in any given role Don t lose sight of who you are as an individual Be honest with yourself about your strengths weaknesses and limitations as they relate to each new task at hand and remember just because someone else has already tried something doesn t mean they succeeded ConclusionAs a CTO you might feel like the world is your oyster You re in charge of your own destiny and can do whatever you want But there are limits to this freedom when you re in the throes of an innovation project it may be tempting to throw caution to the wind and push through on sheer willpower alone But remember that no amount of passion or drive will substitute for a clear plan or visionーand if these things aren t already part of your routine now s exactly when they should become so Thanks for reading I m Ayush co founder of Grabee For more actionable tips and articles that will help you grow follow me on LinkedIn and Twitter 2022-08-22 海外TECH DEV Community Code Review: Necessary Evil in Codebase and Open Source https://dev.to/tuasegun/code-review-necessary-evil-in-codebase-and-open-source-5cei Code Review Necessary Evil in Codebase and Open SourceI m sure we ve had instances where we felt we ve written the next best thing…just to have your lead break it down on the other side of the call and show you a simpler way you could have gone about it  Moments like this are a pain in the ass The aim of the collaboration is to solve problems while we all have different approaches to problem solving some approaches need to be checked and inspected by either a better experienced colleague or a peer that could help refactor Half of the time we want to ship fast which is understandable but we later realise the due process has not to be taken and will cost a lot more to refactor and review Code review can be described as working with a fellow developer colleague or better experienced developer to check the code to correct the flow process and sometimes syntax The Unending loop of Technical debt Technical debt is the cost or amount of time used to reiterate an incomplete solution or limited solution In most cases we ship the fastest solution but we could also take a step back and review the code and use cases for the issue In other cases there would be a different approach to solving the said issue Code review in open source projects is critical firstly because there are lots of contributors and what goes to the code base is really important Poorly reviewed code could crash important services and cost the users many resources First time issues should also have much attention they might have a low contribution but a lack of familiarity with the code base could ruin the previous work that s been done by previous contributors What to look out for in Peer code reviewFunctionalityComplexitySeparation of concernsDepreciated syntaxesStylingContextCommentsReusabilityEach line of codeEnforce best practicesTips for reviewing a teammate s code or Open source ContributionExplain the problem explicitlyBe positive and kindAnybody s code can be reviewed regardless of how Senior the person isGive everyone a chance to learn concepts and growAutomate some processesEnforce testing before buildingTabs gt SpaceDoing this due diligence will save your team a lot of time and the negligence will also cost a lot of time One of the most common tools for code review is Github pull request comment section on Github when PR is sent every commit and line can be commented on using this section of Github After every code review the reviewer and the reviewed should make sure there s proper functionality UI changes are appropriate the code is written with the best practices and the code passes all the set tests In the case where the task is not successfully done the review should return and fix the issues then schedule another code review 2022-08-22 13:16:00
海外TECH DEV Community Troubleshooting Tabbing https://dev.to/abbeyperini/troubleshooting-tabbing-3mja Troubleshooting TabbingI ve been tackling tabbing trouble a lot recently so I thought I d share some debugging tips Adding tabindex Keyboard Trap LoopScrollingRoving tabindexSkip LinksCan t Focus an ElementThe Default Focus Indicator is So Ugly Adding tabindex There are some elements that are automatically focusable like links and buttons Others like lt div gt s will not be focusable You can make elements like a lt div gt focusable using tabindex but that means you also have to program that element to be properly interactive and exposed to the accessibility tree For example an element acting like a button should be activated with space and enter You ll have to add event listeners for key presses Its role and states will have to be managed with ARIA so that a screen reader knows how to interact with it When needing an interactive element it s easier to use semantic HTML elements with these things already built in for you Keyboard Trap LoopA keyboard trap is when a keyboard user can use the tab key to focus inside an element and then can t focus outside the element no matter how many times they press tab A keyboard loop is when the keyboard user is stuck tabbing through a lot of elements and it takes a really long time to get to get out of the list If a person is trying to buy something on your site but can never reach the cart because they re stuck in or looping through a list of items the item they want quickly starts to seem less appealing Often the order of the elements in the DOM is what s creating a keyboard trap or loop so fixing it is as simple as re ordering the DOM You may also run into this with scrollable elements ScrollingScrollable elements must be focusable and applying tabindex to a container does not apply it to its children So if you have a lt div gt full of elements you want a user to be able to interact with you will have to create a way for a keyboard user to focus the element and the elements inside it to scroll This is one of many examples of accessibility issues that can be prevented in the design stage When you reach for a lt div gt with overflow scroll and a list of elements inside ask yourself if there s a more robust design you could use Could you use cards a tabbed interface or collapsible sections If it s a small list could you switch to an element that has keyboard navigation built in like a radio button or select Here are some examples of accessible design patterns you can reference Roving tabindexAlso called roving focus this can be a solution for managing tabbing in scrollable elements and could help fix a keyboard trap With roving tabindex the currently focused element has tabindex and the surrounding elements have tabindex so they can t be focused Using event listeners when a user presses an arrow key the next element to focus is set to tabindex and focused using focus The element the user was just focusing is set to tabindex Once the user reaches the end of the grouped elements you focus and set tabindex on the first This way the user can scroll through elements using the arrow keys and exit the component using tab You can check out WC s example code Since this method depends solely on JavaScript it will not work if JavaScript is turned off Furthermore you ll have to thoroughly check the component works with screen readers and in every browser Skip LinksSkip links allow a keyboard user to bypass large or repetitive blocks of content instead of having to use the tab key many times You can have multiple skip links but the focus should still be reducing the number of times a user has to use the tab key The typical use is before the main navigation allowing users to skip all the navigation links that are repeated on every page Skip links work using fragment identifiers or an id that starts with You can use an anchor tag to link to an element id lt a href heading gt Skip to main content lt a gt lt h id heading gt Main Content lt h gt You can also use fragment identifiers to link to an anchor tag with a name attribute lt a href main content gt Skip to main content lt a gt lt h gt lt a name main content gt Main Content lt a gt lt h gt Skip links have to be visible while they re focused but can be hidden while they re not There are many ways to hide an element and plenty of accessibility concerns to go with them display none and visibility hidden will remove elements from the accessibility tree The hidden attribute is essentially display none width px height px font size px and line height will either remove elements from the accessibility tree by removing them from the flow of the page or be interpreted as malicious by search engines There are two recommended ways to hide skip links Positioning the element off the page is one skip link position absolute left px width px height px top auto skip link focus display inline block height auto width auto position static margin auto The second uses CSS clip to hide everything outside a pixel rectangle For this the element has to be positioned using absolute or fixed skip link position absolute top clip rect px px px px clip path inset height px width px skip link focus clip unset clip path unset height auto width auto The only caveat for these two solutions is that the sudden appearance and disappearance of the component may confuse users It is suggested to animate the element so that it moves on and off the screen more slowly Can t Focus an ElementTo start I have an important caveat tab focus and moving through a page with a screen reader are different things Tabbing is for focusing interactive elements so being unable to focus a lt p gt is intended behavior Screen reader users use the commands associated with the screen reader usually with a combination like Ctrl Opt ↑↓←→ If an interactive element can t be focused using tab here are few things to check Check where the element is positioned This is to verify that the element is not positioned offscreen or behind another element It will also show you if the element is not actually on the page at all Open the DevTools Elements view and select the element you want to focus in the DOM tree When you select hover over or focus the node a flag will appear on the page close to the element with some more information Check that the element is focusable Use the accessibility inspector in Chrome or Firefox DevTools Either will tell you whether the accessibility tree considers them focusable Is it CSS or JavaScript In DevTools you can apply pseudostates like hover and focus to elements manually to see what CSS applies when you do This can help you catch rules not applying They ll either not show up or the tool will tell you that you have an invalid value If it is CSS you ll find some handy tips in the next blog in this series You can also track focus with Live Expressions and see the JavaScript values that result from a change in focus The Default Focus Indicator is So UglyI know I know People still use ugly headlights on cars though Showing when your interactive element is focused or active makes using your page easier for everyone Plus it takes very little effort to doll it up like you would an F helmet On that topic in the next article I ll take you through styling your focus outlines for some terrific looking tabbing 2022-08-22 13:07:00

海外TECH Engadget The best laptops for college students https://www.engadget.com/best-laptops-for-students-130054631.html?src=rss The best laptops for college studentsWhether you re heading to a physical campus taking classes online or a mix of both a laptop is sure to be the control center for your studies Getting a new machine can better help you stay on top of your schedule and handle your furious multitasking with dozens of tabs devoted to research while you write your essays Given we re still dealing with ongoing inflation and the global chip supply shortage you might be concerned about rising prices or what might be in stock The good news is companies are still making a ton of new laptops and there are plenty of models for you to consider We compiled this guide to help you make the right choice alongside a list of this year s best laptops What to expectSince the introduction of Apple s M powered MacBooks and Windows last year not much has changed significantly Apple unveiled its new M system on chip SoC alongside two laptops that are equipped with it including a redesigned MacBook Air Meanwhile new PCs keep getting announced with models this year typically powered by th gen Intel processors or the latest AMD Ryzen chips Though the shift to ARM based systems has been successful for Apple the PC industry is still struggling to keep up and Windows on ARM is still tough to recommend Snapdragon laptops may look and feel sleek offer excellent battery life and built in cellular radios but they re typically quite expensive especially considering their limited app compatibility Speaking of most laptops with top of the line specs can cost you around to these days For most students though a midrange machine might be enough Depending on your field of study you could get by with an Intel Core i processor or equivalent with at least GB of RAM If you need to run specialized software for design or programming consider upgrading to a beefier system with more memory On the other hand if you do most of your coursework online or in a browser getting a Chromebook could save you a lot of money You ll also want to pay attention to a device s weight There are a lot of premium ultraportables in the inch category with chips like Intel s Core i or i that cost around And if that s too expensive you ll still have respectable options in the to range but they might be heavier and use older slower processors I ve included our favorite budget friendly model in this roundup but we also have a complete guide to more affordable laptops that you can check out as well With some laptop makers deciding to get rid of headphone jacks this year it s important to check specs lists when you re shopping for newer machines If you don t have wireless headphones or use equipment that plugs into the mm jack you ll want to steer clear of devices like Dell s new XPS Plus Finally while most laptops in offer WiFi or E and Bluetooth or later the compatible routers or other devices that would enable those faster connections aren t very prevalent yet Chances are your campus WiFi might still be stuck on an older setup so it s not crucial that you get a system with the latest standards yet Of course it doesn t hurt to get a laptop that s future proof but just know that of all the things to look out for WiFi E shouldn t be a dealbreaker in your decision making process Engadget PicksBest Apple MacBook AirAppleIt s hard to beat Apple s MacBook Air if you want a powerful machine for college that won t weigh you down You actually have two good options this year ーthe new M powered MacBook Air and the MacBook Air M The M laptop earned a score of from us for its impressive performance gorgeous inch Liquid Retina display and its refined design that s even thinner than the M machine that came before it Our biggest gripe with this laptop is its price ーthe M notebook will set you back more than the M so you re looking at spending at least if you want the latest and greatest from Apple However even though it s older the M MacBook Air is a solid machine outperforming many PCs while maintaining a fanless design You ll still get a great keyboard and excellent battery life along with a nice Retina display Of course it uses a p webcam while the new model has a sharper p setup housed in a notch The latter also has thinner display bezels that make it look more modern as well as a MagSafe port that lets you keep charging while still having access to the device s two USB C ports But if you re already living a largely wireless life and don t mind a not so great camera you might find the M MacBook Air is a better deal Buy MacBook Air M at Amazon Buy MacBook Air M at Amazon Best Windows Dell XPS PlusEngadgetThe best PC has long been Dell s well rounded XPS series and I still recommend it to anyone that doesn t want a Mac Yes the new XPS Plus lacks a headphone jack and we haven t got one in to test yet But the XPS is a well rounded machine and reliable workhorse that will get you through classes and late night writing sessions without breaking a sweat Like its predecessors the XPS Plus offers a lovely OLED screen with impressively thin bezels and packs a roomy comfortable keyboard It also features a new minimalist design that looks more modern I m not sure about the row of capacitive keys at the top in lieu of traditional function keys but from our time with an early sample they at least worked If you don t like the changes Dell has made to the XPS or if you definitely need a headphone jack the older generations are still solid options There s also the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro series which feature beautiful OLED screens and sharper webcams in thin and light frames I also like Microsoft s Surface Laptops and the most recent edition offers great performance and battery life albeit in an outdated design Buy XPs Plus at Dell Best for gaming Razer Blade Will Lipman Photography for EngadgetJust because your laptop might primarily be for school or work doesn t mean you can t use it for fun Those looking to game on their machines should prioritize responsive screens and ample ports for their expensive item on this list but you also get a inch quad HD screen that refreshes at Hz Different configurations are available depending on your preference including a Full HD Hz and a K Hz version The Blade series is also one of the most polished gaming laptops around Those looking for something cheaper and more portable should consider the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G which was our favorite model last year The main reason it got bumped down a notch is because the refresh is almost more expensive It s still a solid gaming laptop though with an excellent display roomy trackpad and plenty of ports in spite of its thin profile Buy Blade at Razer Best Chromebook Lenovo Flex ChromebookWill Lipman Photography for EngadgetIf you can do most of your schoolwork through web based apps a Chromebook is worth considering Sure they don t generally look fancy nor have high end specs But they re often more affordable and have longer battery life Our favorite Chromebook is Lenovo s Flex Chromebook which Engadget s resident Chrome OS aficionado Nathan Ingraham described as “a tremendous value This laptop nails the basics with a inch Full HD touchscreen a fantastic keyboard and a th generation Intel Core i processor The GB of RAM and GB of storage may sound meager but in our testing the Flex held up in spite of this constraint It s also nice to see one USB A and two USB C ports eight hour battery life and a degree hinge that makes it easy to use the Flex as a tablet That s a bonus especially now that Chrome OS supports Android apps Though the Flex is almost two years old by now it s a solid device for around In fact you can sometimes find it on sale for as little as making it a great option for someone looking for a basic browser based machine on a tight budget Buy Flex Chromebook at display that makes scrolling long documents or spreadsheets feel much faster and you can drop the refresh rate down to Hz if you want to conserve battery life We also like Microsoft s Type Covers though it s worth noting that they ll cost you an additional to Those who want to doodle or sketch on the display may appreciate the Surface Slim Pen s haptic feedback Unless you re bent on sticking to Apple s ecosystem in which case an iPad Pro would suit you best the Surface Pro is arguably the best convertible laptop around Buy Surface Pro at Amazon 2022-08-22 13:46:03
海外TECH Engadget Apple's Self Service Repair program now includes some recent MacBooks https://www.engadget.com/apple-self-service-repair-macbook-air-pro-133326786.html?src=rss Apple x s Self Service Repair program now includes some recent MacBooksApple s Self Service Repair program is no longer limited to iPhones The company is adding M based MacBook Air and Pro systems to the program on August rd giving you access to official parts and tools to fix your laptop at home You can replace the display the battery plus the top case trackpad and other major components As before you re using quot many quot of the same resources you d find at an Apple retail store or authorized repair shop You ll pay to rent a repair kit TechCrunchnotes part pricing is the same as for third party service centers ranging from for an audio board through to for a motherboard You ll have to trade in your old parts to get these prices a motherboard costs three times as much otherwise but Apple will recycle anything it can t rescue Don t expect to use this as a memory or storage upgrade ーApple will charge the full amount if you buy a board that doesn t match the computer you bought The program will expand to more Macs and countries later this year As usual Apple recommends repairs only to experienced users It s still pointing the quot vast majority quot of customers to approved repair facilities The program kicked off in April and is widely seen as Apple s response to Right to Repair laws and regulations including at the federal level It won t necessarily reduce government scrutiny and may not change much for DIY repair fans who ve turned to unofficial sources like iFixit Still this could be welcome news if you d rather not rely on a technician to maintain your Mac 2022-08-22 13:33:26

海外TECH Engadget The best Apple AirTag accessories you can buy https://www.engadget.com/best-apple-airtag-cases-holders-accessories-123036404.html?src=rss The best Apple AirTag accessories you can buyApple lovers who constantly lose their keys got a new way to keep track of them with the launch of AirTags But despite how easy they are to set up Apple s tiny Bluetooth trackers have one critical flaw no built in keychain hole That means anyone who buys AirTags will have to buy holders or cases to attach them to their stuff Despite how backwards this seems it s a very Apple move since many will simply buy the company s own AirTag holders to make things easy for themselves But those aren t the only options available as plenty of accessory companies have hopped on the AirTag train with their own cases holders straps and more If you already bought an AirTag or two you probably know where you want to put it and that placement will dictate the type of case you should get for it These are some of our favorite AirTag cases that will work for a variety of items Spigen ValentinusSpigenSpigen s Valentinus AirTag cover is one of the best alternatives I ve found to Apple s own leather key rings It has a very similar design to the first party accessory albeit made with pleather but it comes in much cheaper at only Your AirTag nestles into the perfectly shaped leather circle and snaps shut and since the leather extends slightly over both sides of the tracker there s very little chance it will pop out unexpectedly I also appreciate that it comes with a carabiner style key ring which makes it easier to secure to your belongings Buy Spigen Valentinus at Amazon Orbitkey Leather HolderOrbitkeyOrbitkey s Leather Holder for AirTag is a more elegant version of Apple s accessory It s a genuine leather sleeve that opens just wide enough for you to slide your AirTag into its pocket Attached to it is a quick release ring that takes some getting used to but once you know how to open it up it s easy to secure onto your keys You essentially just have to push in one direction on the holder s ring to unlock it which then allows you to secure the AirTag to a lanyard your car keys and the like It s a good option if you prefer that your accessories have a more polished look Buy Orbitkey Leather Holder at Amazon Caseology VaultValentina Palladino EngadgetCaseology s Vault has a more utilitarian design made with tough textured TPU The oval shaped holder has an opening on one side into which you pop your AirTag The other side has a smaller opening that attaches to the included carabiner which is one of the best clips I came across in my testing It s pretty basic as far as carabiners go but it s better than a standard key ring ーespecially if you want to easily attach your AirTag to something other than your keys like straps on a backpack or even a pet collar Overall the Caseology Vault is one of the most attractive holders I tested and it will be a solid choice for anyone who doesn t need leather Buy Caseology Vault at Amazon Incase Woolenex AirTag Key ClipIncaseIncase s Woolenex AirTag holder is one that is just as attractive as it is durable The company s Woolenex fabric is made of a woven blend of polyester fibers that make the accessory lightweight water repellant and fade and tear resistant Incase makes a bunch of accessories out of this material and those who like premium fabrics that can also handle a bit of wear and tear will gravitate to it The holder has a TPU snap closure and circular cutout so it won t interrupt the AirTag s signal ーplus it lets you see any cute engraving you may have on your tracker Buy AirTag Key Clip at Incase Belkin Secure Holder with StrapValentina Palladino EngadgetAirTags can also help you keep track of larger bags and luggage and you could easily slip one into an interior pocket and call it a day But if you d rather hook the tracker to the outside you ll need something a bit larger and more flexible than a standard key ring Belkin s Secure Holder with Strap is a good option and it s budget friendly at only The case opens up into two pieces allowing you to sit the AirTag inside the circle and twist and snap the two halves together to lock it in You can then attach the AirTag to your luggage handle water bottle or other item with the strap which feels quite strong I appreciate the unique design of Belkin s Secure Holder although it was hard to twist open when the AirTag was inside of it But that s a good thing for daily use your AirTag isn t going anywhere when in the Secure Holder I also liked its slightly raised edges which provide extra protection against impacts and bumps Buy Belkin Secure Holder w Strap at Amazon Elago silicone casesElagoWhether you re attaching an AirTag to your house keys or clipping one to your kid s backpack you don t need to settle for a boring holder There are a number of fun AirTag cases available now and some of our favorites come from Elago The accessory company makes a bunch of minimalist AirTag holders which are good options if you re looking for something simple and cheap but it also has cases in the shapes of avocados ice cream bars floppy disks and even retro game controllers The best part is that unlike other brands that can quickly raise prices when you want a fancily shaped case or a holder with your favorite character on it Elago s playful cases will run you no more than apiece Shop Elago AirTag cases at AmazonPelican Protector Sticker MountPelicanKeyrings and straps aren t the best way to attach an AirTag to anything and everything Things like bikes coolers luggage and other items would be better served by an adhesive mount Pelican makes one of the most protective ones available at the moment the Protector Sticker Mount case has a two piece design that you pop open to insert your AirTag inside It basically acts as a little box in which your AirTag lives while it s tracking your stuff You can stick it to your items using the strong adhesive panel on the back of the case and Pelican even includes an extra adhesive pad in the package as well just in case you need another one While the case itself is a bit tough to get open at first that just shows how hard it would be for your AirTag to accidentally pop out of it Buy Pelican Protector Sticker Mount at Amazon Moment Stretch Fabric MountMomentSimilar to Pelican s Protector Moment s Stretch Fabric Mount for AirTag sticks to surfaces in this case any fabric and keeps your tracker enveloped in its double hemmed powermesh design It s a good alternative if you don t want your AirTag sliding around inside the interior pocket of your backpack or worse the less secure pockets of your coat And since Moment s wrap is quite thin it blends into the lining of bags jackets and other things better than bulkier options Buy Moment Stretch Fabric Mount at Amazon 2022-08-22 13:15:17
