Are CSS utility classes a mild form of obfuscation If I see something interesting or novel on a website I like to investigate how it was made Since the early days of the web view source in browsers has been a portal for discovery for curious folks Now view source is packaged into a suite of much more sophisticated tools that we refer to as devtools Now we can explore the HTML and CSS and JS of webpages in very intricate ways I find exploring webpages througn devtools a great way to learn and grow as a developer The world wide web is your oyster Today I saw a nice noisy effect on the background of a website I wanted to satisfy my curiousity on the providence of the effect My guess was that it was a SVG filter So I opened the devtools looking to extract the code to recreate a minimal example I looked through the elements in the body and found a svg that contained a filter My hunch was correct ️Then to my surprise when I examined its styles in the style pane there was lots of very short classes They look like utility classes to me This makes for multiple rounds of copying and pasting from the style pane to recreate the effect Its probably just quicker to type out the same declarations myself I don t know how you would classify this It seems kind of like an unintended consequence of utilty CSS frameworks to me It acts as a mild obfuscation method when you approach things with a CSS hat on It will slow down curious folks like me from digging around webpages Is that a good or bad thing It s not a big deal but I don t like impediments on my CSS excursions It is a bit of buzz kill Maybe some businesses would like to make it harder for people to imitate parts of their website so it might be a welcome side effect for them Them are the jigs and reels I guess |

How I built a Bitcoin indexer using ZeroMQIndexers are node operators that fetch data from a node then transform it and store on a database to provide easy access to the blockchain data You can use it to build a history of user s transactions or get a transaction block to build a decentralized application ZeroMQ is an open source messaging library that you can connect and use some socket patterns We will use a pub sub pattern to subscribe on the node and listen new blocks and transactions on real time to store on our database and have a fast access than accessing directly the blockchain and have a easy way to scale it Bitcoind is a node interacting who will allow us to interact with the blockchain and get the desired data Subscribing to Bitcoind using ZeroMQTo Listen to new blocks and transactions you need to run a node locally on your own infrastructure you can download bitcoind hereUsing ZeroMQ you can set a address to publish your events blocks and transactions then on each new event your node emit and the application can deal with it To run a node with ZeroMQ using bitcoind bitcoind signet zmqpubrawblock tcp zmqpubrawtx tcp After run the node you can install zeromq package and listen rawblock and rawtx event then insert on your database import zmq from zeromq const SOCKET ADDRESS tcp const connectZeroMQ gt const socket zmq socket sub socket connect SOCKET ADDRESS socket subscribe return socket const zmq connectZeroMQ zmq on rawblock error block gt if err null return parse and store on your database zmq on rawtxn error txn gt if err null return parse and store on your database ConclusionYou can achieve this result on different ways but ZeroMQ gives to you more security and reliability to receive the blocks and transactions on real time this code can be used in production but I highly recommend that you create a script to check every block and transaction from time to time to make sure none are lost In my repository below you can find all the code above connected to the database and getting the lost blocks or old blocks feel free to contribute If you have some suggestions feedbacks you can call me on Twitter |
