海外TECH DEV Community Object detection with Azure Custom Vision https://dev.to/esdanielgomez/object-detection-with-azure-custom-vision-38ka Object detection with Azure Custom VisionObject detection in images allows us to know the coordinates of one or multiple objects or labels previously established In this tutorial we will learn how to create a computer vision model with the Azure Custom Vision resource for the recognition of objects Bottles Faces Guitars and Hats in images Important things To customize our model this will be the process we must follow Access to Custom Vision Sample image dataset General Dataset Previous process Create a Custom Vision project First we will need to log in to the Custom Vision Low Code portal with our Azure account credentials and create a new Object Detection project Note We will need an Azure Custom Vision resource This resource can be created from the Azure portal or from this configuration wizard directly Step Upload images As a first step the first thing we will do is load the images preferably in order according to the objects that we are going to tag for object detection By selecting the Add Images option we can select the images we want to upload In this example we will load the images to tag hat objects Once the image upload is finished we can see something like this Now with each image loaded we must open each image and select the area where the object we want to tag is located Note in an image we can select one or more areas to tag several objects In order to complete this image tagging process it is important that we have tagged at least images for each category For our example this is the number of images we have used on each tag Bottle Face Guitar and Hat Step Train the model Now that we have the most important thing as in any other Machine Learning model the data now we can do the training from this option Here we can consider two types of training On the one hand we can perform the training in the shortest possible time according to the number of images that have been uploaded and the number of tags we have And on the other hand we can do an advanced training in which we can find the best possible model considering a maximum time that we can specify When the training is finished we can evaluate the model Step Evaluate the model In this step in the Performance section we can analyze the model with three metrics Precision Recall and mAP Mean Average Precision In general these metrics help us analyze the following Accuracy indicates the fraction of identified images that were correct For example if the model identified images as hats and of them were actually hats the accuracy would be Recall indicates the fraction of actual classifications that were correctly identified For example if there were actually images with hats and the model identified as hats the recall would be mAP is the mean value of the mean accuracy AP AP is the area under the accuracy recovery curve accuracy plotted versus recovery for each prediction made Quick test With our Azure Custom Vision model ready from the Quick Test option we can make a quick example Here we can upload an image from our computer or use the link of an online image Likewise we can establish the probability threshold that is show all the detected objects that have a probability greater than the one we specify Example in the previous image we can see that there is a probability that a Guitar is located in the specified area Plus Publish the model Now that we have an established and tested Custom Vision model we can now publish it from the Performance section and select an Iteration Training To publish the model we must specify a name and the Custom Vision resource in Azure that allows us to make evaluations When publishing the model we can use this resource as a web API We could also export the model considering TensorFlow CoreML Docker container among others Here we can learn more about it Export your model for use with mobile devices Thanks for reading If you have any questions or ideas in mind it will be a pleasure to be able to be in communication with you and together exchange knowledge with each other See you on Twitter esDanielGomez com 2023-01-24 14:21:10
海外TECH DEV Community Why we use Terraform for BigQuery https://dev.to/otainsight/why-we-use-terraform-for-bigquery-4f19 Why we use Terraform for BigQueryAt OTA Insight we have been using BigQuery for many years as our main data warehouse for the massive amount of pricing data that we gather on a daily basis Besides the hotel s pricing data and its derived datasets BigQuery also contains other data sets such as travel search data we get from external parties and data generated by internal processes In addition to BigQuery we have a PostgreSQL database This is another data warehouse hosted on Cloud SQL where data sources such as Hubspot Intercom Zuora Salesforce static hotel data and subscription configuration data are centralised The difference between our BigQuery data warehouse and our PostgreSQL data warehouse is that the former contains the big volume datasets that are used in heavy batch processes that benefit significantly from the BigQuery scalable query engine The data in the PostgreSQL data warehouse contains smaller datasets coming from transactional databases These are extensively modelled in our data warehouse by the data analytics team using DBT so they can easily be used for internal reporting Although we had been using BigQuery for a long time in the last few years it became apparent that we needed dedicated tools to manage our BigQuery resources This is due to several factors two main ones being Scaling the team We have scaled our engineering department considerably over the past few years from engineers in to engineers in As a data company where many of the engineering teams use BigQuery in one way or another the scaling caused ownership of specific BigQuery resources to become opaque Looker as a BI tool We migrated from Chartio to Looker as our main BI tool and our implementation of Looker s access control to BigQuery data explained below required us to have version control on the many BigQuery views that were created This version control is not provided by BigQuery but can easily be achieved by having view queries in a version controlled repository in GitLab for example which then can be established on BigQuery using continuous deployment What is Terraform Terraform is an Infrastructure as Code IaC tool that lets users define their cloud and on prem resources in human readable configuration files These configuration files are used together with a state file keeping track of your infrastructure to create modify or delete resources A big advantage of infrastructure as code is that you can version reuse and share these configuration files This makes infrastructure deployment and maintenance easier compared to manually deploying resources from a cloud Web UI Although Terraform is most often associated with deployments of low level infrastructure such as compute and networking resources it is also able to manage higher level infrastructure and fully managed tools such as BigQuery For BigQuery projects datasets tables views routines jobs and permissions all can be specified in the Terraform configuration files For datasets the attributes description and labels can be very useful to track the ownership of datasets For tables and views the schema and queries can also be specified in the configuration files Tracking these configuration files in git repositories allows users to use the common code review and versioning tools on modifications of the schemas and queries Terraform is not the only infrastructure as code tool that exists Every major cloud provider has its own specific tool for its platform such as AWS Cloudformation Azure Resource Manager or Google Cloud Deployment Manager Terraform however supports all prominent cloud platforms and providers in just one tool As we were already using Terraform for managing other parts of our infrastructure and as Terraform has excellent BigQuery support we decided to also use Terraform to manage our Looker related BigQuery views Looker and the need for BQ viewsWhen we migrated to Looker as our BI platform we needed certain datasets from BigQuery to be incorporated in it The problem was that we couldn t reuse user permissions defined in BigQuery and the only way to have the data exposed was through a service account We made a decision to not give the Looker service account access to all raw data in BigQuery but to work with a selection of preprocessed views This was done for a few reasons Security It is security best practice to give an application and its users only the least privilege access as to what is needed for its functionality BigQuery cost optimization The intermediate view approach allows for optimization in BigQuery of how the data is accessed and cached by using e g materialized views Looker cost optimization Developer accounts for LookML Looker s programming language are expensive and LookML has a steep learning curve We decided to only give the Data Analytics team LookML developer roles and all the other engineers the dashboard creator roles This created a clear separation of responsibility and ownership concerning the data modelling process Avoiding bottlenecks All engineers are able to model the data they are knowledgeable about and responsible for in a BigQuery view This view is then simply linked with LookML by the Data Analytics team in an auto generated view and corresponding explores ready for visualisation In practice we decided to organise all of our BigQuery views for Looker under one new central BigQuery project to which the Looker service account has access For most databases access to a view requires access to the underlying data source In BigQuery however one can make use of authorized views and authorised datasets to give a user or group access to just the query result This way we are certain that the Looker service account and the users in Looker will not be able to access data other than what was selected for the view The below diagram is an adaptation of the LookML projects diagram from the LookML documentation showing the scope of data access and responsibility for our use case Technical detailsOur repository describing the BigQuery infrastructure is hosted on GitLab and has one tf file per dataset This file contains the dataset definition and the definition of all views in that dataset An example of such a configuration file is shown below The query of every view is stored in a separate sql file in a queries folder which allows for easier development in an IDE use of SQL specific tooling and the possibility to use SQL linting we use SQLFluff in CI The Terraform state is stored within GitLab s managed Terraform HTTP backend which can be used both by developers on their local machine as well as our CI CD pipelines on GitLab which use the terraform plan and terraform apply commands against our infrastructure configuration resource google bigquery dataset example dataset alias project project name dataset id example dataset description This dataset is created as an example to demonstrate Terraform location EU resource google bigquery table example table alias project project name dataset id google bigquery materialized view is created as an example to demonstrate Terraform materialized view query file queries example dataset example query sql time partitioning type DAY field partitioning column name clustering clustering column name clustering column name EvaluationThe use of Terraform for our Looker related BigQuery views has made our development and deployment of those views particularly robust Having the Terraform configuration files in GitLab allows us to use our standard code review process for the queries and makes changes easy to track and revert if necessary Furthermore ownership and discoverability of resources has improved by the inclusion of owner labels in the view definition We are happy with the benefits the Terraform setup for BigQuery brings us and have continued to add more of our BigQuery resources such as common functions we once defined manually without version control to be managed by Terraform 2023-01-24 14:11:26

海外TECH Engadget The best wireless headphones for 2023 https://www.engadget.com/best-headphones-150030794.html?src=rss The best wireless headphones for Over ear noise canceling headphones typically offer the most comprehensive set of features we want for our listening pleasure The best of these wireless options combine stellar audio with powerful active noise cancellation ANC and other handy tools to create as complete a package as possible Of course some companies do this better than others For Engadget s best wireless headphones guide we tested out a number of different models with a variety of features including noise cancellation and sound quality Plus our favorites span a range of prices so you can decide how much you re comfortable spending Best overall Sony WH XMSony s X line has been our top pick for best wireless headphone for a long time now Until another company can pack in as many features as Sony and do so with a stellar mix of sound and effective ANC the crown is safe With the WH XM Sony redesigned its flagship headphones making them way more comfortable to wear for long periods of time The company also made noticeable improvements to the active noise cancellation adding a separate V chip in addition to the QN that was inside the M There are now eight total ANC mics as well the previous model only had four This all combines to better block ambient noise and high frequencies including human voices The XM still has all of the features that typically make Sony s top of the line headphones showstoppers That includes hour battery life and crisp clear sound with balanced tuning and punchy bass A combo of touch controls and physical buttons give you on board access to music calls and noise modes without reaching for your phone Speak to Chat automatically pauses audio when you begin talking and like previous Sony headphones the M can change noise modes based on your activity or location Plus this model offers better call quality than most of the competition The only real downside is that they re more than the WH XM at full price Runner up Bowers amp Wilkins Px SI ll admit I didn t expect Bowers amp Wilkins to make the year s best headphones list or even be in contention for a spot However the company s revised Px headphones impressed me during my review The Px S are pricey at but Bowers amp Wilkins pair impressive audio quality with solid ANC performance In fact the Px S are my favorite headphones right now in terms of sound There s also a more refined design that doesn t look overly plasticky and the headphones fit comfortably even after hours of use Call quality ambient sound and automatic pausing aren t the best here but they get the job done At the end of the day the design sound quality and noise cancellation make the Px S a strong pick in the current true wireless headphone field Best budget Audio Technica ATH MxBTAudio Technica has introduced affordable wireless headphones in the past and while they didn t offer active noise cancellation they re still worth considering The company s latest is the MxBT a Bluetooth version of the A T s popular Mx wired cans For just you can expect a comfy fit and up to hours of battery life Bluetooth multipoint connectivity allows you to connect to multiple devices at once and physical buttons provide reliable on board control The design isn t as refined as the company s pricer models like the MxBT but you get the bulk of what makes Audio Technica s cheaper options so good Another solid option Bose QuietComfort The Bose was one of our top wireless Bluetooth headphones last time around but the company recently revived a workhorse with the QuietComfort The design is mostly unchanged from the previous QC models which could be a deal breaker for some Once you get past that though the QC combines Bose s excellent active noise cancellation with clear and balanced audio You can expect up to hours of battery life on a charge and a comfortable fit that doesn t get tiresome during long listening sessions We ve already seen them on sale for less than full price which makes the QuietComfort even more compelling Another solid option Technics EAH ABack at CES Panasonic announced the EAH A a new set of active noise canceling headphones under the iconic Technics brand While most of the features are what you see on any number of headphones one figure stood out The company says you can expect up to hours of battery life on the A and that s with active noise cancellation enabled These are currently in my stable of review units for detailed analysis but I have already tested them on a long flight The ANC is impressive and they re comfortable enough to avoid becoming a burden after several hours Sound quality is also quite good there s LDAC support too and there are enough features here to justify the premium price tag Another solid option Master amp Dynamic MWWhile Master amp Dynamic is known for its design prowess the company s over ear headphones were due for a refresh With the MW that debuted in June the company opted for a look that takes cues from its MG gaming headset and mixes them with a combo of aluminum leather and tempered glass The company s trademark sound quality returns with multiple ANC modes and ambient sound options for a range of situations At the high end looks don t come cheap but if you re looking for something beyond the pure plastic fashion of most headphones M amp D has you covered Another solid option Sennheiser Momentum I ll be honest I had a hard time choosing between the Px S and the Momentum for the runner up spot this time around However Bowers amp Wilkins gets the edge in terms of design even though the Px S and the Momentum are very evenly matched on sound quality They re the two best sounding sets of Bluetooth headphones I ve tested this year and it s not even close Sennheiser does have an impressive hour battery life in its favor and improved ANC performance Those two items alone might be enough for you to overlook the very generic design 2023-01-24 14:15:09
海外TECH Engadget Forspoken review: A magical world with several cracks https://www.engadget.com/forspoken-review-ps5-pc-a-magical-world-with-several-cracks-140051257.html?src=rss Forspoken review A magical world with several cracksIn Forspoken you control the agile angry Frey voiced by Ella Balinska slinging elemental attacks and f bombs at multiple monsters before leaping off a cliff face and swinging from a molten outcrop You keep moving through the lands of Athia through the adventure because it s really fun and satisfying but also because when you slow down you start to see the cracks Running on Square Enix s in house Luminous Engine the team that made the game is a newly formed group called Luminous Productions Forspoken gives some beautiful moments of magical pyrotechnics but it s not quite up to the consistent environmental beauty and attention to detail of games like Horizon Forbidden West or Returnal Still most of the elemental effects Frey s movements and a lot of the world of Athia is beautifully realized The matriarchs that control the world the Tantas are fearsome with a fascinating array of spells lots of intrigue and a great wardrobe Fighting talking to and learning about the four leaders and their fall from grace are some of the highlights of Forspoken Luminous Productions even said that the Tantas were a “labor of love for the team and that s apparent Take Tanta Prav the water wielding Tanta of judgment they all have a handy job title to explain how they ll probably rough you up She is delightfully unhinged and argues with herself Surrounded by her own watery creations she s judge jury and executioner except there s no one left to judge Until Frey kills one of her fellow Tantas Square EnixPretty soon after she s raving in Frey s face and you immediately understand that you will have to stop her The broader story has peaks and troughs but most of the great moments and set pieces across the middle end of the game involve the Tantas machinations Try sneaking or just rushing into the castle of the Tanta of Strength with ballistas firing gobs of fire at you and minions surrounding you even as you dodge the hellfire Later on another Tanta pulls you back into New York and the environment playfully teases that all is not what it seems Square EnixWhile most of the elemental effects Frey s movements and a lot of the desolate world of Athia is beautifully realized other parts aren t The only populated region of the game Cipal is so underwhelming relative to the antagonists and their fortresses Take Auden Frey s first friend in Cipal a city that s the final bastion of humanity in Athia She often interacts with Frey in the first and final few chapters of Forspoken arguably she has more screen time than all but one of the Tantas She s also one of the main sources of information about Athia why the Tantas are now unhinged despots and well just how bleak everything is End of the world aside why does she look such a mess Similarly Tanta Cinta who s pivotal to the plot seemed to be modeled by whoever did the dirty to poor Auden This isn t just a graphical problem either It s obvious where less effort s been made Open world games with low quality side quests or game filler are a regular occurrence I ve given up in the middle of Assassin s Creed Valhalla but the majority of tasks in Forspoken are just too dull and unrewarding I m still chipping away at the game so if there are some pleasant surprises I will update this But so far it s not looking good Following the primary story beats while the magical parkour skills make dashing across land an effortless speedy affair and definitely faster than horses there s not a lot of impetus to explore too much One of the major landmarks are giant bird cages indicating locked labyrinths But so far as I ve explored they are simplistic junctions of monsters and corridors with a sub boss beastie at the end Other sidequests lots of them are just like the fetch quests of Assassin s Creed Horizon Ghost of Tsushima Spider Man and well so many open world games of the last years Do you enjoy chasing things for collectibles Welcome to the cat chasing sidequests How about doing it without your speedy magical parkour skills Because that s the reality even when Frey is eventually accepted into the city you ll never get to dash across the city of Cipal and leap up its walls That means after you ve traded with collectors you will have to sprint like a normal human to the tavern Weirdly the sprint button and the magical parkour button are not the same buttons either The good thing is there s not much to keep you in this town Even if it s the only populated area in the game it s the least interesting Take the tavern During celebrations you will get to experience the most inconsequential pointless real time event dance off The button presses and timings have little or nothing to do with the jigs and the moves Thankfully it seemed to be a one off Forspoken may offer an open world but you won t be able to confront the Tantas outside of the order the plot demands Don t worry the sassy bangle Cuff is around to offer a bit of banter between story beats It s a weird relationship between Cuff and Frey They both seem to dislike each other but not in an endearing way Frey may be able to traverse well pretty much everything with amazing ease but despite Square Enix pulling in TV writing talent for Forspoken there isn t much depth or even much of a character arc to enjoy Many major plot points are shoehorned in the final third of the game and Frey s sudden mood shifts never seem all that believable Outside of the main campaign Forspoken offers plenty of opportunities for exploration but the rewards don t feel worth the time When I unlocked a new cloak or accessory they d typically be specced way below my current equipment I d have to go for another magical K run to collect herbs and other materials to upgrade things to a decent level The sheer breadth of magical attacks meant I eventually fell into a pattern of using my favorites until I picked up yet another tree of spells from another fallen Tanta It s a shame you don t get access to the final set of spells until just before the closing chapters of the game The battles when the skills come together and the camera and lock on mechanism is consistent are a delight You shift between support spells summoning two lava soldiers while raining down water attacks throwing a reality shifting charm over a few other enemies so they start tearing each other apart You line up multiple enemies and cast your super spell sending a carpet of poisoned earth spikes across the battlefield Coming across a particularly difficult foe usually glowing enemies classified as mutants often meant waiting to unlock a family of elemental attacks that were more effective Or simply a matter of mopping them up on your way back from another part of the map once stronger The rewards for beating these often never seemed worth the effort of a challenging battle or remembering to circle back to that location At other times an invisible enemy would slam into me from behind the camera The worst fight was during one of the later boss battles with an electric bird beast It will circle above a city seemingly forever Steering Frey I struggled to land even the most straightforward long distance attacks I even made myself dizzy As the camera continued to swing around and around and around What should have been a slick showcase for Frey s agility and parkour talents turned into a war of attrition with bonus motion sickness My quests and exploration would regularly be interrupted by breakstorms These usually random blue hued storms send a barrage of monsters at you monsters that wouldn t drop loot sadly At other times breakstorms end if you killed the monsters in specific areas or if you bested the super bosses that breakstorms would often spawn Still working on that challenge myself A lot of the lore and worldbuilding is rooted in text snippets you ll pick up in dungeons or rest spots I wish more was communicated through the characters Without spoiling things there are other twists that come across as cheap shortcuts escaping the need for another lavish boss battle The core story will take between and hours with some diversions You can explore a handful of new areas post game but nothing so far is particularly captivating I m avoiding spoilers again but a wrinkle at the very end of the post game leads to a very lazy solution for the conclusions of the story to ensure Frey can still live her best magical life after the credits roll Forspoken running on a PS is smooth enough but it will still buckle under a wave of enemies and enough magical pyrotechnics Cranking up the graphical fidelity with either ray tracing or K makes for a very choppy kind of a game especially during frenetic battles Like me before the final chapter Forspoken doesn t feel quite ready Originally meant to launch in May this game s already been pushed back a good nine months Could it have done with a little longer The main story is intriguing but too short and the open world distractions aren t distracting enough At one point opening a pretty simplistic puzzle treasure chest there are lots of them Frey exclaims “Boring Same Frey same Fortunately the battle system is solid and fun offering enough for gamers looking for an adventure and hard mode is suitably hard enough to stretch anyone looking for a proper challenge Frey references Alice in Wonderland several times but after hours the wonder had unfortunately dried up If you enjoy the combat however and there s a demo to try out you might forgive the dullness and be willing to see how deep the rabbit hole goes 2023-01-24 14:00:51
