application Considering global deployment of the application it is little tough to manage the crashing of the application Hence the users may start facing problems with the application as the traffic on eth application increases This happens because of short sightedness and sometimes because of lack of the budget Considering microservices architecture for such application with thousands of APIs which works in tandem with each other In this case there could be failure related to the API on the service the authentication can fail and also sometimes it can be the issue of CPU utilization and memory consumption which makes the application to crash If this problem would have been identified on a timely basis or at an early time then the mess or the whole crash of application would have been restricted by taking necessary steps at the early crash stage For that we need a service that can help us collect the data points or logs This can help us monitor the current state or the state over a period of time and help us create action items to mitigate the issue and the same way lets us analyze the data we have in order to avoid such issues in the future and that s where cloud watch comes into the picture AWS CloudWatch gives us a proper logging mechanism and monitoring mechanism It allows to to collect the data points monitor them act on them automatically and this will help us avoid the problems that may occur with the application in the coming future What is Amazon CloudWatch Amazon CloudWatch is a monitoring service provided by Amazon Web Services AWS that provides data and operational insights for various AWS resources It helps you monitor your resources applications and services running on the AWS cloud so you can troubleshoot issues and ensure high availability CloudWatch collects monitoring and operational data in the form of logs metrics and events and visualizes it using automated dashboards so you can get a unified view of your AWS resources applications and services that run in AWS and on premise It works on the Principal Collect Monitor Act Analyze CMAA Working of AWS CloudWatch Collect The first step is to collect data from various sources such as logs metrics and events in order to get a complete picture of the behavior and performance of your IT systems and infrastructure Monitor Once data is collected the next step is to monitor it in real time in order to identify any potential issues or problems This includes setting up alerts and notifications to proactively notify you when certain conditions are met Analyze The third step is to analyze the data in order to gain insights into the performance and behavior of your systems This includes looking at trends identifying patterns and performing root cause analysis to determine the underlying cause of any issues Act The final step is to take action based on the insights gained from the analysis One can automate actions based on specific events or conditions This includes making changes to your systems such as optimizing settings or deploying new software updates in order to improve performance and reliability The CMAA methodology is a continuous process that allows you to proactively manage and monitor your IT systems and infrastructure in real time ensuring that any potential issues are quickly identified and resolved By using this framework you can improve the availability performance and security of your systems and ultimately deliver a better user experience AWS CloudWatch This is a basic flow of the AWS CloudWatch As you can see in the diagram the very first step here is the Application Monitoring Application MonitoringAWS CloudWatch collects all the data points and logs from the application for which we are using the AWS CloudWatch system And helps us to get an idea of the application its performance and monitor them act on them automatically and this will help us avoid the problems that may occur with the application in the coming future System wide Visibility In AWS CloudWatch you an exposure to monitor and get data and about all the tiers of the application so that we won t miss out any services that we have been using in the various tiers of the application Resource OptimizationIn resource optimization Auto Scaling comes into the picture When there is peak CPU utilization then we can increase the number of instances and reduce as the CPU utilization comes down Unified Operational HealthAnd all these things helps the system to have an Unified Operational Health Here are some key concepts related to Amazon CloudWatch Metrics Metrics are data points that measure the behavior and performance of AWS resources Examples of metrics include CPU utilization disk read write operations and network traffic So the basic idea here is that if we want to judge the current state of an instance or resource we need a benchmark isn t it for example if we consider the CPU utilization of the instance goes above percent then I want to scale a new resource so what we will say then the benchmark here is CPU utilization and the threshold value that I have here is percent If the CPU utilization of the instance goes above percent then we want to scale a new resource so percent becomes the threshold and the benchmark on which we are trying to judge the resource state i e CPU utilization Alarms Alarms are used to trigger actions based on the value of a metric For example you can create an alarm that sends an email notification when the CPU utilization of an EC instance exceeds a certain threshold We can use alarms to automatically initiate actions on your behalf for any certain actions that has occurred Alarms keep focus on a single metric over a period of time Once the action is occurred we can notify the same to SNS topic or to an Auto scaling group to take certain necessary actions When you create the CloudWatch alarm you need to set the settings Time Period It is the length of time to evaluate the metric or expression to create each individual data point for an alarm Evaluation period The number of the most recent periods or data points to evaluate when determining alarm state Data points to Alarm The number of data points within the Evaluation Period that must be breaching to cause the alarm to go to the alarm state Namespaces A namespace is a container for CloudWatch metrics A metric is a set of data points that are recorded over time and represent a specific aspect of a system or application A namespace is used to organize metrics and to ensure that metrics with the same name do not overlap CloudWatch provides several default namespaces for AWS services such as Amazon EC Amazon S and Amazon RDS However you can also create custom namespaces for your own applications and services When you create a custom namespace you must choose a name that is unique within your AWS account You can then use the CloudWatch API to publish metrics to your namespace or you can use CloudWatch agents or integrations to automatically collect and publish metrics from your applications and services Once you have created a namespace and published metrics to it you can use CloudWatch to create alarms dashboards and other visualizations based on the data in the metrics This can help you monitor the health and performance of your systems and applications and quickly identify and respond to issues Example myapplication cpu utils myapplication cpu memoryEvents Events are a way to react to changes in your AWS environment such as the creation or termination of an EC instance You can use CloudWatch Events to automate your responses to events Events are used to monitor and respond to changes in your AWS resources and applications CloudWatch Events allows you to track changes in your AWS resources such as when an EC instance is launched or terminated or when a new object is added to an S bucket You can also create rules to trigger events based on application level events such as when a file is added to a specific folder on a server CloudWatch Events are made up of two main components rules and targets A rule defines the event pattern to match and a target defines the action to take when the rule matches an event Targets can include Lambda functions SNS topics SQS queues and other AWS services When a CloudWatch Event matches a rule the associated target is triggered which can then perform a variety of actions such as sending a notification or invoking a Lambda function to perform additional processing CloudWatch Events can be used for a variety of use cases such as triggering automated workflows sending notifications or responding to security threats Logs Logs are records of events that have occurred in your AWS environment CloudWatch Logs allows you to store search and visualize logs from multiple AWS resources in a central place Dashboards Dashboards are customizable views that allow you to display metrics logs and alarms in a single place You can create multiple dashboards and share them with other users Billing Alarms Billing alarms are used to monitor your AWS costs and usage You can set an alarm to notify you when your monthly costs exceed a certain threshold Insights CloudWatch Insights is a search and analysis tool that allows you to quickly search and visualize CloudWatch logs In summary CloudWatch helps you monitor and manage your AWS resources and battling through a Bokoblin camp before exploring some of the game s new sky islands Now this may sound a bit contrived but it makes a ton of sense because where ToTK shines is when you start combining Link s new skills Ascend Recall Fuse and Ultrahand with his returning arsenal of items and weapons One neat thing about the Ascend ability is that once you get to the top you have the option of jumping out or going back down in case you emerge next to a bunch of enemies nbsp NintendoI m going to start with Ascend and Recall because they are the most straightforward of the four Ascend is a simple movement ability that lets you move through rock and other materials The caveat is that like its name implies you can only go up and to make the ability work you need to have some sort of ceiling relatively close above your head It s a great way to get to the top of a mountain or tower when you re exploring a cavern or room below and from there you can use your glider to soar to other locations I should also mention that while the general topography is largely the same Nintendo has altered a lot of previous locations for TotK while adding a bunch of new content with those sky islands Meanwhile Recall is a lot like the Stasis ability from BotW but in reverse By targeting an object you can then rewind time and return it to where it came from This allows you to use falling rocks as elevators which is super convenient for getting to sky islands though you can also use it offensively as well For example in that aforementioned camp the baddies tried rolling a boulder at me only for it to backfire when I used Recall to send the rock straight back at them as if Link was bowling for Bokoblins Trust me it s even more satisfying than it sounds and it only gets better when you can combo Recall with other attacks like bombs and arrows which brings us to Fuse In a lot of ways Fuse makes me feel sorry for other developers because it s an ability that s wildly fun but seems like a nightmare to program due to all the possible combos In short it lets you combine pretty much any one item from plants to stuff like bombs with any one of your weapons to often surprising outcomes In Nintendo s gameplay demo you can see series producer Eijii Aonuma demonstrating a few combos but when you finally start messing around with things on your own the results can be astounding You can fuse various crystals to arrows to unleash powerful elemental attacks Alternatively I fused a frond to a stick to create a hilarious mid range air attack that feels like you re beating someone up with the fan from Smash Bros And because you can fuse items lying on the ground with one of your weapons in the middle of a fight it encourages you to be resourceful during battle There are also a lot of handy utility combos like fusing a light emitting plant to an arrow to illuminate caves and such Not only does this give spelunking a moody almost Dark Souls like vibe at times it s also an expansion to gameplay as lighting has a direct effect on how you experience new areas And if that wasn t enough combining items also increases the durability and strength of the base items so you re incentivized to try out a wide variety of fusions NintendoBut the ability with the biggest impact is Ultrahand which sounds silly especially when you consider that it comes from what looks like an ancient version of the iconic Power Glove Ultrahand allows you to build machines using nearby materials and from what I ve played the possibilities are endless It reminds of the old Skyrim meme that goes “See that mountain You can climb it except that in TotK s case it s more like “Imagine a vehicle You can build it Contraptions can be as simple as a raft or as complicated as a plane and by using special Zonai devices which can take the form of fans rockets and more along with some sort of built in batteries the demo didn t explain where or how to upgrade power sources you can use these devices to traverse the world like Aladdin on a magic carpet ride But it s better because the carpet is of your design I wonder what would happen if you fused a rocket to a shield NintendoOn some level I have to imagine that Ultrahand was partly inspired by all the crazy contraptions created by players in BotW and now Nintendo is doubling down on that creativity Even without doing anything related to the story I can already see myself getting totally lost in a world of my own creation For example in the demo area there was a conveniently placed pile of wooden boards and wheels So naturally I took minutes to arrange them into a crude war wagon Then I attached a steering wheel fans in back for propulsion and flamethrowers up front for extra damage only to have the whole thing burn up as soon as I drove into some tall grass It was such an anti climatic but hilarious end to my newly constructed vehicle and I couldn t wait to do it again But next time with some metal parts The one downside to Ultrahand if there is one is that it definitely takes some time to get used to the controls It s almost like Nintendo dropped a streamlined version of Besiege into Tears of the Kingdom which is great because you get a lot of freedom on how to put things together However moving and rotating each piece so that it attaches properly to your vehicle requires some patience Thankfully for those less interested in building their own vehicles I can confirm that there is a streamlined way of making new contraptions with a couple simple button taps I can t say much more right now In Tears of the Kingdom you can use the Ultrahand ability to create all sorts of both ground and air based vehicles nbsp NintendoAfter my minute demo session all I could think about were the endless number combos and possibilities I wanted to try It feels like Nintendo has really leaned into the sandbox nature of the previous Zelda game and even without touching the story I can already tell how easy it will be to get sidetracked by Tears of the Kingdom s creative opportunities But my biggest takeaway is that coming from Breath of the Wild which was a game so good it made me rethink how I score video games Tears of the Kingdom is already giving off similar vibes of magic and wonder In a lot ways Tears of the Kingdom could be what Majora s Mask is to The Ocarina of Time You have the same engine the same map and the same basic mechanics but with building and fusing instead of playful masks and that divisive three day cycle Some of Tears of the Kindgom s new abilities might not be your cup of tea but even so it s already feeling like a must play The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom goes on sale on May th for the Nintendo Switch This article originally appeared on
