海外TECH	DEV Community	The 28th Day of the 100 Days of Code challenge	https://dev.to/ethan_/the-28th-day-of-the-100-days-of-code-challenge-35ib	The th Day of the Days of Code challengeI ll start by saying that today was more of a rest day the family was home there was a show we love to watch and then a stand up comedy show I went to So I only made my real time transcription app configurable which took no time at all and also made a settings pane so that users could adjust the config from the client I m not releasing yet I ve got more things I want to consider before I do so Not in a rush Funnily enough I just did my daily reading of Atomic Habits time and the author says the following line Amateurs let life get in the way Professionals stay on schedule I feel like this applies to me as I sometimes can neglect one thing for another I feel like I need to show up more even when I don t feel like it and work through nothing but focus pomodoro sessions even when my brain doesn t feel like it That s something I m gonna take into account when I make decisions Some other questions have been rising in my mind LLM s are one thing in the field of AI why is AI getting so much recognition just now It s not like things like sheep counting or fraud detection with AI is new to my knowledge they re built upon concepts that were available long before the release of such LLM s using MLHow do you teach a model what to do when you have no labeled data Unsupervised learning is really interesting me now I did start to learn all these things at the beginning but I swittched over to practical projects for the moment with the available tools like ChatGPT Don t even get me started on neural networks they tackle my brain with how they re different and that s what makes me wanna learn this I just keep asking myself if I wanna make cool AI projects doesn t it mean I need to generate data and train a model on it This is what it feels like to me based on what I ve seen during the development of this project especially in speaker embedding extraction which super interests me in terms of what the model helps with and how the data it s trained on helps it I think this arises from my lack of knowledge about how AI really works and how practical applications look So this is something I really want to learn as I work on projects I think it d be fun and interesting However things like Andrew s course on Coursera go really in depth I don t know if that s what I need but I m not looking for any shortcuts It s the constant recommendation by ChatGPT probably means that detail is worth learning Theory practical applications projects That s my goal with this but I still need to think this through and not act impulsively That s it for today Happy coding everyone	2023-07-07 22:24:26
海外TECH	DEV Community	Career Reflections	https://dev.to/deeheber/career-reflections-1joh	Career ReflectionsPhoto by Clay Banks on UnsplashGrowing up I was given advice from adults often It was typically some variant of Go to collegeRespect authorityWork hardYou ll be rewardedEarly in my career I followed this advice and it didn t work for me I could write an entire book on why that was the case but for now I ll spare you the details On top of this bad advice I found that in American culture the first thing people will often ask when meeting someone for the first time is what they do for a living How you answer this question will result in judgement that may or may not be accurate As my career progressed I realized that I aspire to have a legacy beyond the company that I work for and my job title As a result I came up with these five core principles Here they are Be kind to people despite their position in the overall hierarchy This includes both official heiarchy such as at a company and social heiarchy in a community setting You never know when circumstances might change and when you might run into an individual again I ve mentored people who have exceeded my technical level of expertise as well as seen people who worked for competitors become my coworker Work in public And don t limit what you publicly share to wins Also share your challenges so people can have a full picture of the work that went into the finished product A rising tide lifts all boats Approach disagreement with a curious mind Don t join a conversation expecting to “be right Ask questions if someone else s perspective doesn t match yours You might not end up agreeing in the end but it s likely you ll learn something new Don t jump to technology to solve a problem unless it s the best tool for the job I ve worked many places where tech was thrown at problems in an attempt to solve them This ended up causing more confusion while the root cause of the original problems were unaddressed Sometimes problems can be resolved by training people or by updating a process Leave things better than you found them Most individuals apspire to change the world but it is challenging to do this at the individual level At the very least we can do our part by improving the current situation While thinking through these core principles I ve realized that people and community are why I m still here in tech To me community looks like current and former coworkers colleagues I met at community events and people who use the things I build I ve gotten to where I am because people were willing to take a chance on me I d love to pay it forward by taking a chance on others and doing whatever I can to lift others up	2023-07-07 22:12:03
海外TECH	DEV Community	Day 778 : That Life	https://dev.to/dwane/day-778-that-life-3jk0	Day That Lifeliner notes Professional Whew what a way to end the week Had a meeting with some folks about a feature coming up Followed up on some community questions My laptop decided it wanted to update and I had no more defers left so yeah it updated That took a while Then for the rest of the day I banged my head against some OpenAPI specs haha I m looking through documentation examples any resources I can get my hands on and I can not get the spec to render how I think it should I noticed that another API had something similar and it didn t render how I thought it should I reached out to someone on the team for a sanity check and together came to the conclusion that there s something up with the renderer Awesome That ll be another rabbit hole I ll go down on Monday Going down rabbit holes I m about that life haha Personal Last night I went through some tracks for the radio show I also made a lot of head way in getting long text to show up in multiple lines on the HTML canvas And it s responsive I tried so many different methods to make it work I think I m going to make it cut off at lines and add an ellipsis at the end I ll have to figure that out Still need to add images also Going to put together the radio show for tomorrow If I have time I want to add the ellipsis to the title text and images on the HTML canvas based on the data Still need to watch the latest episode of Secret Invasion That s it Going to get my weekend started Have a great night and weekend peace pieceDwane conshus	2023-07-07 22:10:21

let s briefly talk about what React is React is an open source JavaScript library used for building user interfaces In order to understand React better you should have a basic understanding of JavaScript React follows a component based architecture where the user interface is divided into reusable self contained components These components are responsible for rendering a part of the UI user interface and managing their own state and behavior React provides a declarative syntax allowing developers to describe how the UI should look based on the current state and React knows how to efficiently update and render the components when the state changes Hooks in React are a feature introduced in React to provide state and other React features in functional components Prior to the introduction of hooks state and life cycle functionality were only available in class components With hooks functional components can now have their own state and life cycle behavior without needing to convert them into class components Hooks Hooks are functions that let you “hook into React state and life cycle features from function components Hooks don t work inside classes Hooks provide a way to reuse stateful logic between components making code more modular and easier to understand They allow you to write reusable and composable code without the need for class components and their associated complexities React provides a few built in hooks In this blog I am going to be talking about the useState hook and the useEffect hook useState The useState hook allows functional components to manage state It returns a state value and a function to update that value Here s an example import React useState from react function Counter const count setCount useState return lt div gt lt p gt Count count lt p gt lt button onClick gt setCount count gt Increment lt button gt lt div gt The example above renders a counter When the user clicks the button it increments the value We call useState inside a function component to add some local state to it React will preserve this state between re renders useState returns a pair the current state value and a function that lets you update it You can call this function from an event handler or somewhere else The only argument to useState is the initial state In the example above it is because our counter starts from zero The State hook can be text Learn Hooks useEffect The useEffect hook allows functional components to perform side effects such as data fetching subscriptions or modifying the DOM It accepts a function that runs after every
