海外TECH DEV Community Building a GitHub Issue Recommendation Bot https://dev.to/algolia/building-a-github-issue-recommendation-bot-3foo Building a GitHub Issue Recommendation BotGitHub Issues are static content What if they didn t have to be When we DevRels Chuck Meyer and Bryan Robinson discovered that Dev to was hosting a GitHub Actions hackathon we knew we needed to give it a try  We knew we wanted to figure out a useful tool to integrate Algolia into an Action There were obvious thoughts on what sort of project to undertake We thought through the usual takes on indexing content products or markdown They all would have been helpful for web creators Would they have been helpful to open source maintainers though Probably How could we make their overall workflow better Then it struck us What if we could give recommended Issues for frequently asked questions Could we lessen the burden of maintainers answering similar questions How many Issues get closed as duplicate in large repositories Could Algolia provide Issue creators a list of related helpful Issues Spoiler alert Yeah totally The Workflow structureWhen a developer adds an Issue to a repository we need to execute three steps First we need to search an Algolia Index for related Issues Then we bundle those results into Markdown and pass it to an Action to create a comment on the initial Issue Finally we need to put the Issue into our Index for future searches Each of these steps requires an Action The Algolia specific Actions we needed to create from scratch The comment writing Action we decided to use the amazing Peter Evan s create or update comment Action which as it turns out GitHub uses in many of their docs about Actions Let s dive into the new Actions Performing a search queryThe first step of our Workflow is a search query sent to Algolia We created a custom Action for this Get Algolia Issue Records  To use the Action we need to send it four required inputs and an optional fifth app id the ID of the application in your Algolia account This is best stored as a Secret in your repository api key An API key with search permissions to the Index in your Algolia App This is best stored in a Secret in your repository index name The name of the Algolia Index to search For consistency we recommend the github event repository name variable issue title The title of the inciting Issue found with github event issue title max results OPTIONAL A number of results to return to the comment defaults to We take these variables and perform a similarQuery search based on the inciting Issue s title We then create a comment body and a list of items in Markdown the format needed for GitHub comments This outputs are passed to Peter Evans create or update comment Action const inspect require util const core require actions core const algoliasearch require algoliasearch async function run try const inputs appId core getInput app id apiKey core getInput api key indexName core getInput index listItems catch err gt core setFailed err message catch error core debug inspect error core setFailed error message if error message Resource not accessible by integration core error See this action s readme for details about this error run Adding the issue to your Algolia indexFor the final step of our workflow we add this new issue to the Algolia index for future searches We created another GitHub Action for this purpose Create or Update Algolia Index Record This action atomically adds updates a record directly to an index rather than writing reading from a JSON file This makes sense in situations where we are acting on metadata about the repo issues pull requests comments as opposed to building an index for the application itself To use this action we ll need to create an Algolia API key with permissions to add update records in our index Additionally we will need permission to create a new index for the repo Otherwise we must create it ahead of time and hard code the index name in our configuration Along with the new API key we ll need a few other inputs to use the action app id You should already have this as a Secret in your repository from the action above api key This is the new key with permission to save records to your index This is best stored in a Secret in your repository index name The name of the Algolia index to add update this record For consistency we recommend the github event repository name variable record A string represneting the JSON record to add to the index If the API key has permission the action creates an index for the repository We ll add the issue title and URL to link back as the record It s a multi line string in our workflow but must be valid JSON for the action to work see algolia records for details We take all of these inputs and execute a saveObject call via the Algolia API We use the issue ID as the objectID in the index This makes it easy to tie the record back to this issue if we add workflows for update or delete events later  const inspect require util const core require actions core const algoliasearch require algoliasearch async function run try const inputs appId core getInput app id apiKey core getInput api key indexName core getInput index name record core getInput record core debug Inputs inspect inputs if inputs appId amp amp inputs apiKey amp amp inputs indexName core setFailed Missing objectID objectID catch err gt core setFailed Failed to save object err catch error core debug inspect error core setFailed error message if error message Resource not accessible by integration core error See this action s readme for details about this error run Next we piece the two new Actions together with the existing comment creation action to build our workflow The full workflow fileTo make this work we need one job with three steps Each step will use one of these Actions name related issueson Triggers the workflow on push or pull request events but only for the main branch issues types openedjobs get related issues permissions Gives the workflow write permissions only in issues issues write runs on ubuntu latest steps Performs a search in an Algolia Index based on Issue Title The Index should have historical Issues Returns two outputs issues list a markdown list of issues comment body a generic comment body with the list of issues id search name Search based on issue title inspires others to find better and better ways to suggest content in static areas like GitHub Issues If you want to play around with the full workflow you can check it out in this repository Both the search and ingest Actions are available in the GitHub marketplace Search and discovery can become an interesting part of your automated workflow in GitHub and beyond Post and Bot by ltag user id 海外TECH DEV Community Acra. Features: Searchable encryption https://dev.to/cossacklabs/searchable-encryption-4gjl Acra Features Searchable encryptionCloud storage technologies have their gains and pains While they enable distributed operations they also raise the question of keeping data well protected Encrypting sensitive data is one of the first steps in this field However encryption makes it harder to search over the data once it is encrypted which is both what encryption is needed for and a huge operational downside In an ideal world it would be convenient to keep the data encrypted and still be able to securely search over it without constraining the application architecture And today it s possible To solve the issue we built a technology called Acra Searchable Encryption It s basic version is available in Acra Community Edition a more sophisticated oneーin Acra Enterprise Edition Use Acra Community Edition for free Check out Acra Enterprise Edition tailored for solutions with high security requirements ️⃣Searchable encryptionSearchable encryption means that data is stored encrypted in the database yet it s possible to run simple queries on encrypted fields without decrypting them There are various searchable encryption schemes available but in Acra we use one that balances security and usability the bestーit s keyword search Acra s search through encrypted data is based on blind indexing with probabilistic bloom filters built around strong AES GCM and HMAC Acra encrypts data fields and builds a searchable index for them Acra supports exact queries out of the box select from emails where email lt query gt and allows building compound encrypted indexes to make even sophisticated queries possible over encrypted data Unlike the existing solutions Acra provides adjustable performance leakage ratio for protected search strict separation of duties which guarantees absence of cryptographic key leakage from application secure storage and management of cryptographic keys and a set of additional security features that better correspond to the real world threats Ready to learn more Acra features Follow the link to get acquainted with another feather in our cap 2021-12-02 18:01:45

GCP Cloud Blog Unlocking opportunities with data transformation https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/data-analytics/unlocking-opportunities-data-transformation/ Unlocking opportunities with data transformationOne of the biggest challenges data executives have today is turning the immense amount of information that their organization customers and partners ーor rather their whole ecosystem ーare creating into a competitive advantage  In my role here at Google Cloud I specialize in everything data ーfrom analytics to business intelligence data science and AI  My team s role is split into main activities Engagement with customers and partner community About of my time is spent with customers And it s where I ve gathered all these insights that I m going to share with you today   Product strategy and execution This time is for strategizing and planning around all our new Cloud launches and products Go To Market globally This is where we ask all the tough questions How do we make it easier for our customers to onboard And get the most out of our services To transform and innovate And then we solve for them It s safe to say data driven transformation is my bread and butter And I want it to be yours too My aim is to help people think about data in a new way ーnot something to be afraid of but something to leverage and grow with There are still lots of problems to be solved in our industry But data is helping us unlock a world of opportunities What modern data architectures look like todayThere s a treasure trove of new technologies that are transforming the way companies do business at incredible speeds I think of companies like Paypal which migrated over petabytes of data to serve its users and Verizon Media which ingested terabytes of data daily and stored petabytes in BigQuery Even traditional retailers like Crate amp Barrel are making strides in the cloud doubling their return on ad spend ROAS while only increasing investment by But what do these companies all have in common A modern approach to their data practices and platforms And there are three attributes that I think all organizations should take into account   Embrace the old with the new  Every single one of the most important brands on earth has legacy systems They ve developed leadership over decades and these systems before the cloud came along got them there Don t discard what s going to get you there i e multi cloud All modern architectures today are multi cloud by default According to Flexera over of businesses reported using a multi cloud strategy this year and over  have a hybrid  strategy in place Data is no longer a stagnant asset Organizations that win with data think about it as part of an ecosystem of opportunity where insights arise from emerging data ーwhether it be from interconnected data networks or the data from their partners And this is a trend organizations should keep their eye on A study from Gartner predicts that by organizations that promote data sharing will outperform their peers on most business value metrics How to make the best hires for your data teamLeaders often say that their competitive advantage comes from their people not just services or products While most companies are now recognizing the importance of data and analytics many still struggle to get the right people in place  The best way to look at how many data people to hire is to ask yourself what percentage of my total employee base should they make up I agree with Kirk Borne Chief Scientist Officer at DataPrime Solutions who says that your entire organization should be data literate And when we say literate we mean recognize understand and talk data  One third of your company should be data fluent ーmeaning able to analyze and present informed results with data And finally of employees should be data professionals that are paid to create value from data That s where all your chief scientists data analysts engineers and Business Intelligence specialists come into play The ideal data team structure of course depends on the type and size of the company Furniture and home e commerce company Wayfair for instance has approximately engineers and data scientists ーclose to of its total workforce  Who should own the data  There are a lot of questions around who data leaders should work for and who should own that data It s tough to answer because there are so many choices Should it be the CTO Or the CFO whose initiatives are around cost reduction Or the CPO who may focus on product analytics only  When asking customers at scale it s typically under the CFO or CTO And while that makes sense I think there s something else we should be asking How should data be approached so that companies are enabled to innovate with it A trend we re hearing a lot more about is data mesh This data ownership approach basically centralizes data and decentralizes analytics through data neighborhoods This allows business users and data scientists to access analyze and augment insights but in a way that s connected to the centralized strategy and abides by corporate rules and policies Data neighborhoodsData and beyondData analytics data integration and data processing can be very complex especially as we begin to modernize So I d like to leave you with a gotcha moment ーand that s data sharing  You can t expect to reap the benefits of data instantly First you have to work with it clean it up and analyze it The real innovators are those looking at the wider picture ーconsidering analytics solutions and sharing and combining datasets My advice for people who want to get started Forget the notion of new and existing use cases and focus on business value from day one How are you going to measure that And how are you sharing that with leaders that are supporting your initiative  Data is constantly growing and trends are always shifting So we need to stay on our toes Data driven transformation gives businesses real time insights and prepares you for the unpredictable So looking forward to I d say use data to plan for change and plan for the unexpected A data cloud offers a comprehensive and proven approach to cloud ーallowing you to increase agility innovate faster get value from your data and support business transformation Google Cloud is uniquely positioned to help businesses get there Learn how 2021-12-02 18:30:00
