海外TECH	DEV Community	Don't Memorize What You Can Google!	https://dev.to/code_jedi/dont-memorize-what-you-can-google-30i	Don x t Memorize What You Can Google This is something that might seem weird for beginners yet is something that every beginner should know if they want to save their time and frustration What do I mean by Don t Memorize What You Can Google Simply Memorize core concepts and functions that are essential for working with your programming language or framework but don t memorize random functions code snippets and concepts that you will rarely use Instead take advantage of external resources forums books blogs for those things when they are needed Don t memorize things that take minute to find through google like Why This is Important for BeginnersI ve seen beginner programmers memorize random things about a language or framework because they thought that memorizing more will make them more competent since they will be faster since they d be able to code without using google often Yes you will code a bit faster but this approach will backfire sooner or later See this approach might make you faster for a bit of time but it will bring major downsides in the long run The first downside is brain cluttering Trying to clutter your brain with random info that is rarely used is as dumb as it sounds Instead you should memorize core concepts functions and code snippets that you use often The second downside is a steeper learning curve If the way you learn a new language or framework is by memorizing a ton of different mostly irrelevant things you will have a hard time every time you try to learn something new The last downside is frustration You will likely get frustrated if you can t remember something and when this happens too much you can turn your programming life into a living hell Instead you should memorize only what is essential for working with your language or framework For example if you re working with PHP you should memorize how to use GET and POST Or if you re working with data science in Python you should memorize how to load a dataset through pandas You get the idea Don t worry about the non essentials In ConclusionYour brain s storage is precious and limited Don t fill it with random code snippets functions and concepts See you next time	2022-04-09 13:51:09

海外TECH	DEV Community	Power of AWS Organization ID in controlling access to AWS resources	https://dev.to/aws-builders/power-of-aws-organization-id-in-controlling-access-to-aws-resources-jc4	Power of AWS Organization ID in controlling access to AWS resourcesIf you are using a single or multiple AWS Accounts then you may already be aware of the AWS Organizations service It is a service which is used to centrally manage the AWS Accounts It gives a unique ID called Organization ID per master AWS Account Different companies use different strategy to use and manage the AWS Accounts AWS Organizations provide several features which not only helps managing the AWS Accounts but also gives power to central cloud COE Ops teams restricting permissions apply security guardrails managing cost across AWS Accounts within one AWS Organization One of the ways to restrict access to only certain AWS services amp principals is using the policies AWS offers different policy types but two most commonly amp widely used policies are Identity based policies and Resource based policies As per official AWS documentation Identity based policies are JSON permissions policy documents that control what actions an identity users groups of users and roles can perform on which resources and under what conditions while Resource based policies are JSON policy documents that you attach to a resource such as an Amazon S bucket While using the resource based policies AWS provides condition keys which can be used to apply more granular control over actions allowed to be performed by AWS service or principal The condition key ーaws PrincipalOrgID is very useful in this context It verifies the organization id in the AWS Organization belongs to the principal who is making the request to use the resource such as S bucket VPC endpoint KMS keys etc One of the examples is restricting access of the S bucket to the principals belong to one specific AWS Organization The above S bucket policy explains that all the users from the member AWS Accounts under Organization ID o fgxxzr are allowed to put objects in the mentioned S bucket resource Here the aws PrincipalOrgID under the condition block will be matched against the key amp value in request context If it is evaluated as true then only the permission will be granted to take mentioned actions on the given resource s Another good use of the aws PrincipalOrgID is with the policy attached to VPC Endpoints I have used it in many of the scenarios Most of the big enterprises whether it is Financial service or any other use the controlled AWS environment to make it secure One of the examples from the actual customer use case is where customer wanted to allow internal AWS accounts only belong to customer s organization to retrieve amp update secrets from the central Secrets Manager store The solution provided was to create a secret in AWS Secrets Manager and attach a resource policy to the Secret which allows users to retrieve amp update secrets only when the request comes through the VPC endpoint ーvpce aaaddfc Next step was to create a VPC Endpoint policy for AWS Secrets Manager service so that service can be accessed from within a VPC only since this VPC was acting as a Hub VPC and principals from the other AWS Accounts were able to access this Hub VPC and attach a resource based policy which allows principals from the AWS Accounts but only if they are a member of Organization ID ーo fgxxxzr Below policy Deny mentioned permissions on any Secrets from any Principal if they don t belong to the member AWS account falls under Organization ID ー o fgxxxzr You can use the aws PrincipalOrgID in any resource based policy to control access if supported to that resource It is specially useful when you have s of s of AWS Accounts to manage In this blog post I have shown how you can control access of resources to the member AWS Accounts of an AWS Organization with the help of the condition key ーaws PrincipalOrgID Recently AWS announces support of PrinciplaOrgID in Lambda function resource based policies read it here A blog is also available here Hope this blog post will help you securing your resources I ll write another blog on another real world use case very shortly Till then Happy Learning	2022-04-09 13:20:09
