your systemYou can download from here if you don t haveGitHub accountCreate your GitHub account by following few simple stepsSSH keys for authenticationUsing the SSH protocol you can connect and authenticate to remote servers and services With SSH keys you can connect to GitHub without supplying your username and personal access token at each visit After installing Git on your system and Creating GitHub account to connect to your GitHub account from your local machine via SSH you need to generating a new ssh key for the authentication Follow the below documentation for detail overview on creating and adding SSH keys Generating a new SSH key and adding it to the SSH agentWhen you set up SSH you will need to generate a new SSH key and add it to the ssh agent It will generate two keys one public and one private You must add the public SSH key to your account on GitHub before you use the key to authenticate Follow the below documentation for the process of Adding public SSH key to your GitHub account Basic Commands Now that everything is set up let s look at some common Git commands git Clone Bring a repository that is hosted somewhere like github into a folder on your local machinegit add Track your files and changes in gitgit commit Save your files in Gitgit pull Download changes from remote repo to your local machine the opposite to pushgit add To track all unsaved files and changes for githubgit commit m title m description git push Upload git commits to a remote repo like github Cloning GitHub Repo on your local machine It s similar to downloading or cloning someone else s open source project and updating modifying it or even working with your own online repository In Visual Studio code open an empty folder and from the top of that folder open a terminal windowClone with SSH that we just set upRun the following command Git clone git github com WardaLiaqat Test Repo git Repo will be cloned with all files and folders You can view all hidden files using ls commandMake some changes to the file and run git status command it will show you all modified and untracked created files to be saved and commit git add will save all new changes git commit m “message you want to add with commit m “add description of commit will save your changes locally git push origin master will add update your changes on your GitHub RepoDue to the recent Replacing master with main in GitHub action you may notice that there is a refs heads main As a result the following command may change from git push origin HEAD master to git push origin HEAD mainYou can try git push origin HEAD master as a more local reference independent solution This explicitly states that you want to push the local ref HEAD to the remote ref master Git push documentation for detailed overviewAfter successful push you can see your all code changes are live on GitHub You can also see all the commitsHere are all the changes green means it was added and red means it was removed It s quite handy to be able to revert back to the previous version in case you don t like the changes Creating Repo locally and initializing on GitHub Essentially it is just as if you were creating your development project locally and then uploading it to GitCreate any Repo Project locally in VS codeIt won t be a part of GitHub Repo as for nowAfter adding files your project and updating them we need to initialize our Repo so Git can recognize itgit init To initialize local git Repo After your Repo is initialized then you can follow all the steps that we performed above including status add commit etc git push origin master Here this command will through you an errorIt s because we didn t clone this down from GitHub repository We didn t create this Repo on GitHub we created it locally So git is saying I don t have any idea where to push this because it doesn t connect to anything So we need to create that connection The easiest way is to do it from GitHub online interfaceCreate an empty GitHub repository with name and description and as a public repoNow let s add that Repo as a origin so git can recognize it git remote add origin repo SSH clone link We are using this to add a reference to remote repo on GitHubgit remote v will show all the remote repos git push u origin HEAD main u for upstream that means I can push simply by git push command in future Undoing in Git Undoing can be quite helpful In some cases if you made some changes mistakenly and want to revert them for example if you want to revert a commit the git reset command can prove very helpful git reset To undo add stage changes git reset HEAD To undo commit will undo the last most recent commit git log If we want yo undo any previous commit then this command will helpgit reset hash of that commit You will get this from logs but it won t remove datagit reset hard hash of that commit It will remove the code as well Conclusion As a programmer you ll find Git and GitHub quite useful Thus we 海外TECH	DEV Community	Why AWS Cost Explorer Isn’t Enough to Seriously Reduce Your Cloud Expenses	https://dev.to/castai/why-aws-cost-explorer-isnt-enough-to-seriously-reduce-your-cloud-expenses-4l8	Why AWS Cost Explorer Isn t Enough to Seriously Reduce Your Cloud ExpensesTeams interested in tracing their AWS cloud costs usually turn to AWS Cost Explorer the industry s go to tool for usage reporting  The Cost Explorer may be a great tool when you start but if you run a larger cloud operation you might be missing out on one important thing real time cost reporting Without it every month the cloud bill can come with a nasty surprise Why is the delay in reporting so important for managing and optimizing cloud costs Read on to find out What you need to know about AWS Cost Explorer and billingYou probably know how AWS billing works but let s go over the basics first AWS bills every service separately using different metrics While some are easy to understand for example billing an EC instance per second others present a challenge Think Lambda which is billed per invocation and per GB sec used Want to know how much you ll pay at the end of the month Log into the AWS billing console and check the data there However you will instantly see a lag between usage and billing That s because AWS updates its billing data at least once a day Once a day sounds reasonable Until you rack up a k bill in just a few hours by merely testing a service When does the Cost Explorer come into play Well it s all about data At the end of the month AWS sends you a final invoice listing all the usage refunds credits or support fees The problem with invoices is that they show aggregate charges generated by service without helping you to map them onto specific AWS resources How else can you analyze your cloud spending What AWS gives you is access to the raw data used to create that invoice You can dump that so called Cost and Usage Report CUR into an S bucket in your account this requires setup and feed it into the Cost Explorer for visualization  This might sound great as if you had a source of up to date data to analyze The only problem AWS will refresh this data file three times a day at most That s better than once a day but still not enough And there is no guarantee here according to AWS docs “Cost Explorer refreshes your cost data at least once every hours So you re left with a solution that gives you some degree of visibility into cloud costs This sure is better than nothing but it s not enough if you want to seriously reduce your bill Here s why you need real time visibility I already mentioned how Silicon Valley startup Milkie Way played around with a cloud service for a day only to wake up to a massive k bill the next morning  Many things can go wrong when a team stops paying attention to cloud resource use Adobe once generated a surprise cloud bill of over k because they left a computing job running on Azure One alert acting on real time usage data would have been enough to prevent this Real time alerting is a good solution here especially in areas that you expect might cause such spikes like heavy GPU instances running for more than a few hours  Access to real time usage data helps to avoid massive cost spikes But can it also optimize your regular cloud bill Combine real time data with automation for the best resultHaving real time visibility into your cloud costs is great but it s just one side of the coin The other is doing something about it especially when you see an unexplained cost spike  At this point you can choose from two solutions The first one is delegating a team of engineers to oversee your cloud infrastructure at least when the most important processes are running But engineer time is expensive And you can be sure that people aren t going to stay long on board when all they do is monitor the details of the cloud The other solution is hiring an automation engine to take over infrastructure management and react to data in real time For example when the price of a spot instance goes beyond the threshold you set for it the automation engine instantly replaces it with a cheaper solution When your application suddenly starts receiving lots of buzz and people are flocking in the automation tool will automatically scale your resources to match this new demand and deliver a great experience  You ll never have to worry about an instance left running by mistake The automation engine will remove any resources that aren t being actively used to help you avoid wasting your money If you find a way to get your hands on real time data you ll open the door to the most potent cost optimization tactics autoscaling rightsizing spot instance use and more See how real time optimization works in this post	2022-04-19 10:34:35
