React State vs Props: Introduction & Differences |
https://dev.to/kuldeeptarapara/react-state-vs-props-introduction-differences-1i2g
|
React State vs Props Introduction amp Differences What are the Props Props which stands for properties are used to transfer data across components This data flows from the parent component to the child component in a single direction Additionally it should be highlighted that the data transmitted is always read only and must not be modified A unique React keyword called “Props is used to transmit data from component to component However the crucial component is the uniform flow of data communication with props Props data are read only so children of elements cannot change their parents data Consider props as objects containing the attributes and their passed in values from the parent component Reusing parts is made feasible through props Pass in props as an argumentfunction Tool props Declare props variable const name props name Example Example js return lt div gt lt h gt My name is name lt h gt lt div gt App jsimport Tool from Example function App return lt div className App gt lt Example name Harry gt lt div gt export default AppOutput My name is Harry Example function Nature return In nature nothing is perfect and everything is perfect OutputIn nature nothing is perfect and everything is perfect Example Multiple Props function HelloWorld text text return lt div gt text text lt div gt Output Hello World What is State A built in React object called the State is used to store data or details about the component The State of a component can change over time each time it does the component re renders The component s behaviour and rendering are determined by changes in State which may occur in reaction to user input or system generated events Before the introduction of React Hooks State could only be used in class components and was not available for usage in functional parts In a structure that is continuously being updated the State is used to store and change data or information about a component over time A user action or a device event response could cause the status to change The React component s core determines the activities of the component and how they are to be carried out React has an integrated state object for its components The property values for the item are saved in the state object Any time the state object is modified the component is restored Example class Button extends React Component constructor super this state count updateCount this setState prevState props gt return count prevState count render return lt button gt this updateCount gt Clicked this state count this lt button gt Example class MyResume extends React Component constructor props super props this state Name Harry CompanyName Bosc Post Frontend Devloper Experience Year render return lt div gt lt h gt My Resume lt h gt lt div gt How do we change the State This should be rewritten as a functional component in my opinion Use the useState hook to accomplish this import React useState from react const MyComponent gt const value setValue useState return lt div gt lt p gt value lt p gt lt button onclick gt setValue value gt Increment Value lt button gt lt div gt Difference between States and propsStates The data of the components that must be presented to the view is stored in State States can be utilised with the component to render dynamic changes The State is internal and controlled by the React Component itself The data is held in State which changes over time It can t be accessed from the outside and needs a starting value and component Although data can be accessed from outside the component it cannot be updated there Props Data and event handlers are passed to the child components using props To communicate between components props are needed The component that renders the component controls external props Props are immutable once placed they cannot be altered Flows from the parent component may be empty Read only and non editable data from props React Data FlowConclusion Understanding React state and props may appear complex and a little perplexing A component s State is an object that holds both private and public local data Additionally it can be applied to modify a component s output Props are merely input definitions that tell you what to expect to see Well There is a React experts are available in the industry who are specialists in the React development Hire dedicated React developer from Bosc Tech for your next project |

Debugging Gson, Moshi and Jackson JSON Frameworks in Production |
https://dev.to/codenameone/debugging-gson-moshi-and-jackson-json-frameworks-in-production-2013
|
Debugging Gson Moshi and Jackson JSON Frameworks in ProductionParsing bugs are the gift that keeps giving in the age of APIs We use a service it works perfectly in debugging QA etc Then some user input that made its way to the web request returns a result we just can t parse Unfortunately there isn t much we can do at this stage We need to understand why the failure occurred and how we can workaround it and fix it In production that isn t trivial We could log all the calls we made and all the objects passed But this will destroy our performance and send our log storage bill through the roof It might also put us in violation of privacy laws since the JSON data might include private user information This is a common problem in production since a webservice might change and trigger a serialization failure at runtime This is especially true in polyglot environments where a Java class mapped using an API like Jackson might fail on the deserialization of a NodeJS object For JSON processing Java has three common libraries Jackson oldest and most stable parser API of the threeGson a more lightweight API from GoogleMoshi not as well known in the server more popular on Android Written by the author of Gson and should be considered its successor since Gson is no longer actively maintained Basics of JSON Parsing in JavaThese libraries are pretty similar in concept They support serialization of generic types and mapping them to objects We can convert to from an arbitrary Java object or a list of objects For simplicity I ll focus on Strings since this is a tutorial about debugging In the code snippet below we use standard Java POJO Plain Old Java Object for the User and DBObject values These are trivial objects containing relatively simple fields such as Strings primitives byte arrays etc In the demo code I created them with Lombok for convenience but they would work just fine with getter setters This can also work for complex objects with deep nesting collection types etc With Jackson you can generate a JSON String using code such as this String json mapper writeValueAsString user You can perform object serialization using Jackson DBObject object mapper readValue json DBObject class For Gson we can accomplish the same using String json gson toJson user And this is how Gson converts to an object DBObject object gson fromJson json DBObject class Moshi is a bit more verbose but supports more customization features and type safety String json moshi adapter User class toJson user And this is the code to get an object in Moshi DBObject object moshi adapter DBObject class fromJson json Notice that Moshi uses type adapters out of the box The “type adapters concept isn t unique to Moshi and exists in all of these tools It lets us perform custom deserialization specifically “low level object JSON mapping In this case Moshi puts this API in the forefront to DemoTo demonstrate debugging I created a simple JSON database application that lets us save elements as JSON files You can find the full source code here This demo covers all three JSON parsers and most of their basic features like type adapters We can pick the API to use in the request by submitting an HTTP header and a factory method in the DatabaseWS class picks the right implementation instance This way we can process any request as Gson Jackson or Moshi The default is Moshi This is a standard Spring Boot project you can open in IntelliJ IDEA The rest of this post assumes that you have Lightrun installed and running If not please install it for free here You can read about it here Creating a Database UserBefore we start we need to create a new database user We can do that with the following command curl X PUT H Content Type application json H Authorization c f f dbedefc d login user password givenName Shai surname Almog http localhost addUser Once executed you should see a file called “ myDB user user Notice that represents the home directory of the current user The file should contain something similar to the following JSON login user givenName Shai surname Almog email null hashedPassword a DeBGvevsRiHCIdRqafo ED KUYXXgXYFuLxUyxmqcZK token eadb fa af fac password null The file was generated by Moshi If we wish to use another option for the parser generator we can add the argument H type jackson or H type gson respectively AuthenticationOnce we created a user we can use the authentication API to login to the database using a curl command similar to this curl H Content Type application json H Authorization c f f dbedefc H type jackson d login shai password http localhost auth In this case I chose to login using the Jackson parser instead of the moshi default This command returns a token in the response which we can then use to perform operations Adding an EntryWe can add a record to the “database using a command such as curl H Content Type application json H Authorization c f f dbedefc H type jackson d coreData FBYWFiEs http localhost create Notice that the response from the authentication call we sent above is used in the authorization header There are several other features in the database but I ll skip them for now… Reading an EntryReading elements from the database using deserialization is even easier It s a simple REST GET method curl H Content Type application json H Authorization c f f dbedefc H type jackson http localhost read id caedb db d bbc eedb In this case I used Jackson again but it should work for Moshi Gson just the same Notice the argument to the read invocation is the ID of the object We receive the id as a response from the create invocation Inspecting and DebuggingDebugging APIs such as Gson Jackson or Moshi is pretty challenging Unlike typical Java APIs that will throw a checked exception when they fail these tools typically log parsing errors Furthermore many serialization errors or problems can appear as a missing option rather than a visible bug A class might have different field names or might be missing an extra field and as a result object fields might include partial information following the deserialization process Unfortunately by the time we have the type object it s a bit too late The JSON is gone and we can t compare it to the result We want to inspect the object during serialization Before we proceed you need to make sure you installed Lightrun and have a basic sense of its usage There s a free version you can install from here Once we have that we can start debugging… Debugging Serialization in ActionThe code that generates a JSON file is usually much simpler to debug and has fewer issues It s a simple place to start We can place a snapshot right in the location where we write the object E g in this case I used the JSONDatabaseService class and placed a snapshot on the writeString method call In the stack I can see the JSON data and the original object That way we can inspect any discrepancies between the two Oftentimes this can relate to default behaviors of an implementation like Jackson or Gson in relation to null objects date time etc Those are nuances that differ significantly between the various implementations DeserializationReading a JSON string or file into a class is the place where most of us fail Names that are missing are just skipped and a small typo can become an immense problem down the road Here is the true value of the ability to inspect the JSON before we convert a string to an object We can easily do that in this sample by placing a snapshot in the JacksonDatabaseService class Notice that this is Jackson specific We can do the same for Gson and moshi by placing the snapshot in their respective abstraction classes Once this is placed we can try reading an object and we ll see the JSON that s received In this particular case grabbing the JSON is trivial from the method parameter However this isn t the exception and grabbing this data is possible in most cases This is the place to review the field names and various type adapters to understand the resulting object fields Final WordJSON processing in Java is always a challenge whether you use Jackson Gson or moshi They all fail in roughly the same ways and oftentimes in production data Since logging data might expose us to liability and increasing costs our only option to debug these APIs is via developer observability tools such as Lightrun For most debugging cases we can just place a snapshot on API access and inspect the resulting node list etc This is usually generic code that helps us convert a type representation such as an object of type foo To a JSON file that we can send store etc |

How to buy a vlogging camera |
https://www.engadget.com/how-to-buy-a-vlogging-camera-143059694.html?src=rss
|
How to buy a vlogging cameraWith the explosion of TikTok and the growth of video on YouTube Twitch Instagram and other platforms interest in vlogging has increased exponentially since we last updated our guide If you re one of those creators and a smartphone is no longer good enough it may be time to upgrade to a purpose built vlogging camera Some models are specifically designed for vlogging like Sony s ZV E mirrorless camera that launched last year or Panasonic s compact G Others like the new Panasonic GH Sony AS III and Canon EOS R are hybrid cameras that offer vlogging as part of a larger toolset All of them have certain things in common like flip around screens face and or eye detect autofocus and stabilization Prices features and quality can vary widely among models though To that end we ve updated our guide with all the latest models designed for every vlogger from novice to professional in all price ranges Engadget has tested all of these to give you the best possible recommendations and we ll even discuss a few rumored upcoming models One caveat to this year s guide is that a parts shortage has limited production of many cameras causing shortages and higher prices Sony for one halted production of the aforementioned ZV E for a time and models from Fujifilm and others are also hard to find The good news is that the shortage appears to be easing so hopefully we ll see normal supply levels in the near future nbsp What do you need in a vlogging camera Vlogging cameras are designed for filmmakers who often work alone and either use a tripod gimbal vehicle mount or just their hands to hold a camera It has to be good not just for filming yourself but other “B roll footage that helps tell your story The number one requirement is a flip around screen so you can see yourself while filming Those can rotate up down or to the side but flipping out to the side is preferable so a tripod or microphone won t block it Steve Dent Engadget Continuous autofocus AF for video with face and eye detection is also a must It becomes your camera “assistant keeping things in focus while you concentrate on your content Most cameras can do that nowadays but some still do it better than others If you move around or walk a lot you should look for a camera with built in optical stabilization Electronic stabilization is another option as long as you re aware of the limitations You ll also need a camera with a fast sensor that limits rolling shutter which can create a distracting jello “wobble with quick camera movements K recording is another key feature All cameras nowadays can shoot K up to at least fps but if possible it s better to have K at or even fps If you shoot sports or other things involving fast movement look for a model with at least p at fps for slow motion recording Video quality is another important consideration especially for skin tones Good light sensitivity helps for night shooting concerts etcetera and a log profile helps improve dynamic range in very bright or dark shooting conditions If you want the best possible image quality and can afford it get a camera that can record K with bits billions of colors That will give you more options when you go to edit Don t neglect audio either ーif the quality is bad your audience will disengage Look for a camera with a microphone port so you can plug in a shotgun or lapel mic for interviews or at least one with a good quality built in microphone It s also nice to have a headphone port to monitor sound so you can avoid nasty surprises after you ve finished shooting You ll also want good battery life and if possible dual memory card slots for a backup Finally don t forget about your camera s size and weight If you re constantly carrying one while shooting especially at the end of a gimbal or gorillapod it might actually be the most important factor That s why tiny GoPro cameras are so popular for sports despite offering lower image quality and fewer pro features The best action and portable camerasIf you re just starting out in vlogging or need a small rugged camera an action cam might be your best bet In general they re easy to use as you don t have to worry about things like exposure or focus Recent models also offer good electronic stabilization and sharp colorful video at up to K and fps The downsides are a lack of control image quality that s not on par with larger cameras and no zooming or option to change lenses DJI Pocket IIDJILast time around we recommended the original Osmo Pocket but the Pocket II no more “Osmo has some big improvements As before it s mounted on a three axis gimbal and has impressive face tracking that keeps your subject locked in focus However the new model has a larger much higher resolution megapixel sensor a faster lens with a wider field of view and improved microphones As before you can get accessories like an extension rod a waterproof case and more What really makes the Pocket II great for vlogging are the follow modes combined with face tracking If you re working solo you can simply set it up and it ll rotate and tilt to follow you around That also applies for walk and talk vlogging so you don t have to worry about focus or even pointing the camera at yourself For it s not only good for beginners but is a handy tool for any vlogger Buy DJI Pocket II at Amazon GoPro Hero BlackEngadgetThe Hero Black is what we called a “big invisible upgrade over the Hero itself a much improved camera over the Hero Black we recommended last time That s largely due to the new processor that unlocks features like higher resolution K p and K fps video much improved Hypersmooth stabilization an improved front screen and more All of that makes it ideal to mount on a drone vehicle helmet bicycle and more at a very manageable price with a year GoPro subscription Buy Hero Black bundle at GoPro DJI Action DJIDJI took a much different approach compared to GoPro with its latest Action camera no with more Osmo branding Rather than being a standalone camera it s a modular system with a magnetic mount that lets you add a touchscreen module with a secondary OLED display and three additional microphones or a battery module for longer life and an extra microSD slot As with the Pocket it offers tons of accessories like a in extension rod and more It s a versatile option if you do more than just action shooting and is priced well starting at Buy DJI Action at Amazon The best compact vlogging camerasCompact cameras are a step up option from smartphones or action cameras with larger sensors and much better image quality At the same time they re not quite as versatile as mirrorless or DSLR cameras and not necessarily cheaper and they lack advanced options like bit video For folks who want the best possible quality without needing to think too much about their camera however it s the best option nbsp Sony ZV Steve Dent Engadget Sony s ZV came out in and it s still the best compact vlogging camera available Based on the RX V it has a decently large inch megapixel sensor and fixed mm f mm equivalent lens Based on the RX V it has a inch megapixel sensor and fixed mm f mm equivalent lens It also offers a lightweight body built in high quality microphone plus a microphone port flip out display best in class autofocus and excellent image quality It also has vlogging specific features like “product showcase and background blur While the ZV can t shoot bit video it comes with Sony s S Log picture profiles that give you increased dynamic range for shooting in challenging lighting conditions The flaws include a lens that s not quite wide enough when you re using electronic stabilization mediocre battery life and the lack of a true touch display and headphone port That aside if you re looking to step up from a smartphone it does the job nearly perfectly Buy Sony ZV at Amazon Canon G X Mark IIIEngadget Canon s G X Mark III should also be front of mind for vloggers looking for a compact option It also packs a megapixel inch sensor but has a mm f mm equivalent zoom ーquite a bit longer than the ZV at the telephoto range It can shoot K at up to fps while offering optical image stabilization a microphone input though no headphone jack and even the ability to livestream directly to YouTube The downsides are contrast detect only autofocus and a screen that tilts up but not to the side For it s still a great option though Buy Canon G X Mark III at Amazon The best mirrorless DSLR vlogging camerasThis is the class that has changed the most over the past couple of years particularly in the more affordable price categories Interchangeable lens cameras give you the most options for vlogging offering larger sensors than compact cameras with better low light sensitivity and shallower depth of field to isolate you or your subject They also offer better control of your image with manual controls log recording bit video and more The drawbacks are extra weight compared to action or compact cameras extra complexity and higher prices Fujifilm X SJonas Dyhr Rask FujifilmFujifilm s X S has displaced the X T as the best vlogging camera out there thanks particularly to the more affordable price It ticks all the boxes for vloggers offering in body stabilization bit K external video with F Log recording at up to fps along with p at a stellar fps a screen that flips out to the side and easy to use controls It also comes with a headphone jack and USB C port that doubles as a headphone jack The main downside is the limited touchscreen controls but you get a lot of camera for just Buy Fujifilm X S at Adorama Sony ZV ESonyThe best Sony APS C camera for vlogging is now the ZV E While using many of the same aging parts as the A including the megapixel sensor it has a number of useful features for self shooters High on the list is Sony s excellent autofocus which includes the same background defocus and Product Showcase features found on the ZV compact It also offers electronic SteadyShot a fully articulating display and more The biggest drawback is rolling shutter that can get bad if you whip the camera around too much If you can find one it s priced at for the body or in a bundle with Sony s mm F power zoom lens Buy Sony ZV E at B amp H Panasonic GH and GHSteve Dent EngadgetPanasonic s GH was an incredibly popular vlogging camera for a very long time and was actually replaced by two cameras the GH and more budget oriented GH II The GH is a large upgrade in nearly every way offering K at fps and K at up to fps along with ProRes formats that are easy to edit It also comes with the best in body stabilization on any camera and great handling The downside is sub par contrast detect autofocus and battery life that s not amazing It s also worth a look at the GH Mark II which is not only cheaper but particularly well suited for live streamers It s not a huge upgrade over the GH but does more than most rival cameras for the price offering K bit p video a fully articulating display and excellent in body stabilization As with the GH the main drawback is the contrast detect autofocus system Buy Panasonic GH at Amazon Buy Panasonic GH at Amazon Panasonic GPanasonicPanasonic s G is purpose built for vlogging like the ZV but also allows you to change lenses It has a fully articulating flip out screen axis hybrid optical electronic stabilization K V Log L video at up to fps though sadly cropped at X for K video p at up to fps and contrast detect AF with face eye detection The coolest feature is the Nokia OZO system that can isolate audio to a specific person via face detection tracking ーsomething that can theoretically improve audio quality Best of all you can grab it right now with a mm lens for Buy Panasonic GH at Amazon Canon EOS M Mark IICanonAnother good buy if you re on a budget is Canon s EOS M Mark II particularly if you re okay with p video only While not a huge upgrade over the original M Canon has made it more compelling for vloggers with a fully articulating display continuous eye tracking in video and live streaming to YouTube It does support K but with a heavy times crop and contrast detect autofocus only Still it s a good option for folks on a budget selling for with a mm lens Buy Canon EOS M Mark II at B amp H Canon EOS RSteve Dent EngadgetIf you ve got the budget for it Canon s EOS R offers nearly every feature you need in a vlogging camera You can shoot bit K video at up to fps and the Dual Pixel autofocus with eye and face tracking is incredibly reliable It also offers axis optical stabilization a flip out display and a relatively compact size As you may have heard overheating can be an issue but firmware updates have improved that issue and it only applies to the more demanding video settings Buy Canon EOS R at Amazon Fujifilm X TSteve Dent EngadgetThe Fuijfilm X T is a great all around mirrorless camera for vlogging It has everything you need including a fully articulating display continuous eye and face autofocus bit K log recording at up to fps axis in body stabilization microphone and headphone jacks the latter via USB C and lower noise in low light Image quality especially in the skin tones is lifelike and the sensor has minimal rolling shutter It also offers good battery life and comes with dual UHS II card slots Finally it s fairly light considering all the features and Fujifilm has a good selection of small lenses ideal for vlogging What I don t like is an autofocus system not quite as fast or accurate as Sony s and the fairly steep asking price for the body only Buy Fujifilm X T at Amazon Nikon Z fcNikonIf you want to look great while vlogging check out Nikon s stylish Z fc It s largely identical to the Z with features like a megapixel APS C sensor K at fps and a reliable phase detect autofocus system with face detection However the Z fc brings a vari angle touchscreen to the party and has a beautiful vintage body covered with convenient manual controls It doesn t have built in optical stabilization but you can get that via a lens The best feature though is the price you can get one for with a mm lens Buy Nikon Z fc at B amp H Upcoming camerasIf you re not quite ready to buy there are some interesting options on the horizon Canon just announced the EOS R a mirrorless EOS R version of its popular EOS D DSLR It has an APS C sensor and all new RF S lenses meaning that it might replace Canon s current M series cameras Specs include a megapixel APS C sensor K fps video an articulating display and more All of that will make it a top vlogging option if our upcoming review confirms the hype On top of that Canon also announced a cheaper EOS R model with a megapixel sensor that could also be an ideal vlogging camera Both cameras are coming out towards the end of In addition Fujifilm just launched the X HS its new flagship mirrorless camera With a megapixel stacked and backside illuminated sensor it offers a raft of impressive features Some of the highlights include fps blackout free burst shooting faster autofocus K fps video a flip out display and stop in body stabilization If you ve got the budget this could be a solid vlogging choice when it arrives on July th |
