fourth post in my series on Building a Powerful Blog So far you ve created your Gatsby site and deployed it for the world to see using Netlify You ve also learned about the power of Markdown for writing your own blog posts and have stored and retrieved it with GraphQL If you haven t already I would recommend going back to the first post of the series Creating a Gatsby Blog Site to get caught up before continuing Now it s time to pull it all together and learn how to create reusable templates to display your blog post and the many to come on your own website So what are we waiting for Let s get started Creating Your Blog Post PagesThere are a few steps that will need to be taken to retrieve the content from your Markdown files We ll first start by creating a template file so that the server has something to build your blog page off of We ll then move on to creating a file in the root of your directory which will run during the process of building your site This file will create the separate URLs that you can navigate to from your site for each Markdown file Then we ll update the template file to display some of the content from your blog post in a nicely formatted view To get this started go to the src folder of your codebase and create a folder titled templates Within this new folder created a file titled blog post js so that your directory looks similar to the following src pages posts templates blog post js gatsby config jsWithin the newly created blog post js file we re going to import React create a quick function to return an h element and export that function for use during the Gatsby build process The code is as follows import React from react const BlogPost gt   return     lt h gt Hello World lt h gt   export default BlogPostIf you started up your local server right now and tried to view this page you would be unable to do so The reason being that Gatsby doesn t yet know how to handle this file For this we will need to create another file titled gatsby node js in the root of your directory This file will implement the createPages API from Gatsby Node APIs and create dynamic blog pages for you Let s first fetch your blog post data from the GraphQL data layer exports createPages async actions graphql reporter gt   const result await graphql       allMarkdownRemark     edges      node       frontmatter        path                           Here we re using a similar query to the one you ve seen in the last section of this post We ve removed the sort and limit fields though as they re currently not needed This query will return all Markdown files that you have set the gatsby source filesystem plugin to point to in your gatsby config js file This looks good right now but what if there was an error when trying to run the query That s where the following code comes into play exports createPages async actions graphql reporter gt   if result errors     reporter panicOnBuild Error while running GraphQL query     return  With these few lines of code you re able to report out that there was an error while running the query and exit out of the createPages function so that you re entire site doesn t crash In all my time of working with Gatsby I ve never seen this issue occur Nevertheless though it s good to have just in case Now that we have the result from your data layer how to we tell Gatsby to create the necessary pages using your template file Look no further than the below snippet of code const path require path exports createPages async actions graphql reporter gt const createPage actions   result data allMarkdownRemark edges forEach node gt     createPage       path node frontmatter path       component path resolve src templates blog post js       context       We need to require the Path module from Node js to provide us with a way of working with directories and file paths Be sure to require that at the start of the file We ll also need to extract the createPage method from the actions object and assign it to a variable This should be done immediately at the start of your arrow function Finally towards the end of the arrow function we re utilizing a forEach loop to iterate over each edge or post and call the createPage method This method will be called with an object consisting of the path to use for the URL the component to build the page with and any additional context This additional context field is useful if there s extra data that needs to be provided to the component itself but for now we ll go ahead and leave it empty Below is the full snippet of code for you to check your gatsby node js file against mine const path require path exports createPages async actions graphql reporter gt   const createPage actions  const result await graphql       allMarkdownRemark     edges      node       frontmatter        path                             if result errors     reporter panicOnBuild Error while running GraphQL query     return    result data allMarkdownRemark edges forEach node gt     createPage       path node frontmatter path       component path resolve src templates blog post js       context       That s it Our site will now create a page for every node i e Markdown file it finds within your filesystem As long as those files have a path within their frontmatter you ll be able to navigate to that page and see the h we added as a placeholder Let s go ahead and give it a try by stopping your server with ctrl c and restarting it with npm run develop Once the server is running go to your web browser and navigate to http localhost You should see the landing page of the Gatsby site you originally built From here add on a forward slash to the URL followed by whatever you entered in the path field of your YAML frontmatter For me that s going to look like http localhost my first blog post and the page should look like this What a rush We now have a site with dynamically generated URLs for any blog posts you add to the posts folder While we re only displaying a placeholder for your blog post this is just the beginning of what we can do for your blog site If you would like to learn more about the power of Gatsby Node APIs while we wait for 海外TECH	Engadget	Zoom is adding email and calendar features to take on other workspace platforms	https://www.engadget.com/zoom-email-calendar-meetings-productivity-184822470.html?src=rss	Zoom is adding email and calendar features to take on other workspace platformsAs expected Zoom is looking to take on the likes of Microsoft and Google Workspace in more areas than group video calls and chats At its Zoomtopia conference the company announced a bunch of features that are coming to its platform including two key ones for productivity email and calendars You can connect third party email and calendar services to Zoom and access them through the desktop app The company says that can help save you time instead of having to switch between apps and perhaps needing to hunt for the right tab in your browser Those on the Zoom One Pro or Zoom Standard Pro plans will be able to set up email accounts through the platform and folks with certain plans have the option to use custom domains You ll get up to GB of storage included The key selling point is that messages sent directly between Zoom Mail Service users i e those who use Zoom s email hosting services will have end to end encryption You ll also be able to send external emails that can expire and contain access restricted links ZoomAs for Zoom Calendar there will be options to see which of your contacts has joined a meeting and you can schedule Zoom voice and video calls in the app Zoom s own calendar service will include the ability to book appointments On the way in is a feature called Zoom Spots The company describes this as a virtual coworking space where colleagues can stay more connected during the workday via video first conversations While the company didn t reveal too much detail about Zoom Spots in its blog post there may be a downside as the feature could enable bosses to keep a closer eye on what their employees are doing ZoomBusinesses will soon be able to employ Zoom Virtual Agent a conversational AI and chatbot designed to help customers resolve issues That tool will be available in early Other things in the pipeline include a way for developers to make money from the Zoom Apps Marketplace and a virtual coach to help sellers perfect their pitches As for the core functions people know Zoom for there s a feature on the way that connects team chats with in meeting chats You ll be able to carry the conversation from one to the other and back again to keep things flowing The company is also looking to roll out translation options for team chats in In the near future you ll be able to schedule a chat message to send at a later time Zoom Phone is coming to the web which should be handy for many folks A progressive web app will be available for ChromeOS too Meanwhile users will be able to use a one click chat message as a response when they can t answer a call As for Zoom Rooms there will be a way for folks in one of those to join a Google Meet room and vice versa Last but by no means least Zoom revealed a string of updates for meetings The Smart Recordings feature uses AI to generate summaries next steps and chapters to make archived meetings more digestible and help you get to the part you re looking for There will be meeting templates that can automatically configure the right settings and a way to record videos with narration and screensharing that you can send to colleagues On top of that you ll have more avatar options including the ability to use a Meta avatar Zoom	2022-11-08 18:48:22
海外TECH	Engadget	Crypto giant Binance is buying its rival FTX following a very public dispute	https://www.engadget.com/binance-buys-ftx-crypto-exchange-183519035.html?src=rss	Crypto giant Binance is buying its rival FTX following a very public disputeTwo of the largest crypto exchanges have just announced one of the stranger tech mergers in recent memory and that s saying something Binance plans to acquire its rival FTX after a brief but very public dispute As Bloombergexplains Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao sold about million in FTX s native token on November th in response to recent revelations that came to light particularly a CoinDeskreport that FTX was facing a liquidity crisis That led to FTX chief Sam Bankman Fried accusing Binance of attacking his company with false rumors and maintaining that everything was fine By today however the two companies had reached a takeover deal while acknowledging that Binance would help resolve a liquidity crunch affecting FTX s transactions Data suggests FTX may have been in a particularly bad state In a discussion with TechCrunch CryptoQuant noted that FTX s net crypto asset holdings plunged percent in just the past two days That reportedly made withdrawals so difficult that FTX had to introduce stablecoin crypto pegged to an external value liquidity to process the moves through the markets or other exchanges The company s stablecoin reserve has fallen by percent in the past two weeks and related withdrawals fell to near zero by early this morning The trouble prompted an investor exodus Bloomberg says Hey all I have a few announcements to make Things have come full circle and s first and last investors are the same we have come to an agreement on a strategic transaction with Binance for pending DD etc ーSBF SBF FTX November The deal is non binding and the companies will only start conducting due diligence that is an appraisal in the coming days If completed however the acquisition could shake up the crypto industry by eliminating Binance s main competitor This won t overcome fears of a sustained crypto market downturn but may give Binance a US presence it doesn t currently have That if is important mind you FTX s Bankman Fried has been testifying in Congress and Binance has reportedly faced investigations from both the US Securities and Exchange Commission as well as the UK s Financial Conduct Authority The countries are concerned Binance isn t complying with regulations and in the US possibly breaking the law It s not guaranteed that regulators in either country will be keen on the proposed union particularly when Binance s US affiliate was banned in	2022-11-08 18:35:19
海外TECH	Engadget	GoPro's Hero 11 Black is now $50 off with a one-year subscription	https://www.engadget.com/gopro-hero-11-black-deal-50-off-with-one-year-gopro-subscription-182527726.html?src=rss	GoPro x s Hero Black is now off with a one year subscriptionThe Hero Black is the latest top end model in GoPro s long line of action cameras and as of this writing the camera is now down to at GoPro s online store with a one year GoPro subscription This deal technically started last week but it s still a new low and off the bundle s usual going rate nbsp Buy GoPro Hero subscription bundle at GoPro Buy GoPro Hero at Amazon As a refresher GoPro s subscription service costs a year on its own and includes features like unlimited cloud storage ーwith the ability to have your camera automatically back up footage to the cloud when it s plugged in ーautomatically generated highlight videos and up to two discounted camera replacements per year GoPro normally offers its cameras at a lower upfront cost with a year long subscription than without and since you can cancel the service after buying we d say there s little reason not to buy the bundle However if you don t trust yourself to remember to turn off auto renew we ll note the camera alone is currently available for at several retailers nbsp Either way we gave the Hero Black a largely positive review when it launched in September The camera is an iterative upgrade over the excellent Hero Black ーwhich itself looked near identical to the prior Hero Black ーwhich means it still allows for crisp video at up to K Hz K Hz or K Hz for extra slow motion shots excellent stabilization that keeps moving footage looking smooth and a rugged waterproof design that s small enough to fit on a helmet bike handle surfboard or most other tight spots Here though there s a taller sensor with an aspect ratio which is more accommodating to shooting vertical video for mobile video apps like TikTok at the same time as more traditional vertical footage A new shooting mode called HyperView uses the taller sensor to take wider angle video ーthough our review notes that this is best used with only certain types of action shots ーwhile a degree horizon lock feature keeps shots level even if you fully rotate the camera Still images have been bumped from megapixels to and you can now shoot higher quality RAW images in burst mode instead of just JPEG Beyond that battery life is mildly improved there are new night shooting modes for capturing things like star trails and there s support for more granular bit color across the board Action cameras still aren t essential gadgets for most these days and if you already own a Hero Hero or another cam you re already happy with there s no pressing need to hop aboard here If you re looking to upgrade from a Hero or older however our review found the Hero to be an easier sell Right now GoPro currently has the Hero for the same while the Hero and smaller Hero Black Mini are only less So if your smartphone isn t enough for the kind of footage you want to capture this deal looks to be the better value for those in the market for a higher end model A GoPro representative says this offer will run for another couple of weeks at least though it s not clear if we ll see any further discounts on Black Friday Get the latest Black Friday and Cyber Monday offers by following EngadgetDeals on Twitter and subscribing to the Engadget Deals newsletter	2022-11-08 18:25:27
