AITA for fighting for custody over the surrogate child I x m carrying I have been stressed for these past few weeks that posting online to strangers is honestly a little therapeutic for me at the moment I F am a single woman and in I had my daughter quot Ema quot F through artificial insemination I balance work and single motherhood I chose to be a single parent as I have always wanted to be a mother but I never really wanted to be in a relationship romantically or sexually My longtime friend quot Nicole quot F and her husband quot Paul quot M have been trying to conceive for years When Nicole asked me to carry their baby I agreed and for a longtime we tried using her eggs and it failed four times but the th time I became pregnant I am currently six months pregnant The contract agreement in the pregnancies were that Nicole s eggs were to be used as I did not want to use mines because I did not want the baby to be genetically related to me I had to sign another contract each time we tried again and the fifth time I signed like I did the four previous times xb Nicole and Paul were getting paperwork done for adoption of the baby so the adoption procedure will be done Well while I was reading the paperwork I discovered that my eggs were used I called the fertility doctor who called and confirmed that the fifth contract I signed were said that my eggs were used Nicole and Paul never made me aware and when I called a confronted them they said they had no choice as Nicole was told that her eggs were infertile xb I was furious I told them that they should have asked me but Nicole s response was that I would have said no which to be honest I would but I am pregnant with a baby that is genetically mines which is not what I wanted This was a month ago and after a lot of thinking over my situation I have decided that since this is my baby I am raising him xb My state gives rights to the birth mother however I was advised to lawyer up which I have since done Both Nicole and Paul are fighting custody for adoption however with how it looks they would not have rights to adopt the baby together but since Paul is the biological father he would have rights xb Most people have told me that I agreed to carry a baby for them and that I am now backing down which is not true this is my baby I agreed to carry Paul and Nicole s baby but I do take my part of the blame for not reading the fifth contract but I still should have been asked for them to use my eggs instead of being lied to AITA submitted by u aita surrogacy to r AmItheAsshole link comments |
