海外TECH DEV Community Create a Pull Request from Visual Studio Code https://dev.to/this-is-learning/create-a-pull-request-from-visual-studio-code-18nh Create a Pull Request from Visual Studio CodeDid anyone say the word Productivity We re all used to the GitHub User Interface so we usually navigate to GitHub then search for our repository and then click the button to create a Pull Request But did you know that you can do all of this from Visual Studio Code In this article we ll see how to create a Pull Request from Visual Studio Code in literally two clicks This article will also be the first of a trilogy about the Github VScode workflow you better stay tuned to see what else you can do If you re new to my articles you know I usually match them with a YouTube video Fun fact while recording it I noticed the Visual Studio Code extension had a little bug the perfect opportunity to contribute to the project and to use the extension to create a Pull Request fixing a bug of the extension itself I ll tell you more in the video In any case if you don t really like watching videos I ll do my best to explain everything down here with some screenshots to make it easier to follow Install the official GitHub ExtensionThe first thing you need to do is to install the official GitHub Pull Requests and Issues extension for Visual Studio Code You can find it in the marketplace by searching for GitHub or by clicking here Note make sure to not get confused the extension called GitHub is and old one and deprecated The new one is called GitHub Pull Requests and Issues As soon as the extension is installed you ll see a new icon in the Activity Bar on the left side of Visual Studio Code Opening it the first time will ask you to login to GitHub just click on the button and a browser tab will open where you can login to your GitHub account Create a Pull RequestNow that you re logged in you can create a Pull Request from Visual Studio Code by clicking the icon on the top bar If you re already on a pushed branch this is the panel that will open Merge Changes FromThe first panel you will see allows you to select the origin branch that is the one containing the changes you want to merge By default it will select the current branch you re on You can also select the remote in case you have more than one In the most common open source situation you ll have your fork and the original repository In this panel you might want to select your fork IntoSimilar to the previous panel it allows you to select a remote and a branch This time it s the destination If you re working on your own project the remote will likely be the same as the one you selected in the previous panel but if you re contributing to someone else s project you ll likely want to select the original repository Branch is usually main but make sure to read the project s contribution guidelines to see if there s a specific branch you should use TitleYou PR s title By default it will use the message of the last commit but you can change it to whatever you want DescriptionYou PR s description If the project has a template in github PULL REQUEST TEMPLATE md you will see this box already filled with the template Similar to the title you re free to change it Create as draftThe final option before the Create button is a checkbox that allows you to create the PR as a draft This is useful if you want to create the PR but you re not ready to merge it yet CreateOnce you re happy with the options you selected you can click the Create button and the PR will be created on GitHub Compare changesWaaaait a moment before clicking the Create button you can also open the Compare changes panel right below From this panel you can see all changes that will be included in the Pull Request in the diff format you re used to see on vscode so green files are added red are deleted and yellow are modified Add labelsAren t labels also supported I can t see them in the screenshot well that s because the button only shows up if you hover the mouse over the top bar To be honest I m not sure this is a feature or a bug I might open an issue on the extension s repository to ask about it Anyway if you click that button the quick pick menu will open on vscode letting you select the labels you want to add to the PR from the list of labels available in the repository And as I mention in the video this is exactly where I found the bug Allow empty labels array to be pushed to set labels to remove all of them Balastrong posted on Mar This PR fixes If there are no checked labels from the quick pick menu the command set labelsis not posted preventing the possibility to remove all the last one selected labels I didn t remove the if because labelsToAdd can be undefined if the menu is closed with esc but the length control is causing the bug hence should be removed View on GitHub Creating the Pull RequestOk at this point we ve seen pretty much everything we needed we created the Pull Request from the Create button and if you go on GitHub you can see it s there ready to be reviewed Speaking of reviewing Pull Requests wouldn t be cool if this was also possible from Visual Studio Code Well you re in luck because that s exactly what we re going to see in the next article of this three articles series Stay tuned Thanks for reading this article I hope you found it interesting I recently launched my 海外TECH DEV Community SearQ: A RESTful search engine https://dev.to/daviducolo/searq-a-restful-search-engine-2b58 SearQ A RESTful search engineHello everyone Today I want to tell you about my personal Rails project SearQ a search engine based on RSS feeds that I developed myself as an open source REST API SearQ was born from the idea of creating a fast and scalable search engine that can handle a vast amount of information from different sources Using RSS feeds SearQ is able to extract the information needed for searches making it an attractive option for those looking to integrate a search engine into their projects SearQ also offers two additional tools Export and Flow Export allows users to extract a query in CSV format while Flow enables the creation of a custom JSON endpoint based on a query These tools provide even more flexibility and customization for developers working with SearQ It s great to see that you are constantly updating and improving the project and are open to suggestions and collaborations But the most interesting thing about SearQ is the REST API I developed to allow developers to integrate the search engine into their applications Thanks to this API SearQ becomes extremely flexible and customizable adapting to the needs of individual projects To develop SearQ I used Ruby with Meilisearch an open source lightning fast and hyper relevant search engine that fits effortlessly into your apps websites and workflow and several open source libraries But the real strength of SearQ is the ability to customize the search experience Through the use of RSS feeds it is possible to choose the sources from which to extract information giving the ability to create thematic and specialized search engines SearQ is an evolving project and I am constantly striving to update and improve it I am always open to suggestions and collaborations and I am sure that SearQ can become an interesting option for those looking to integrate a search engine into their projects searq searq org SearQ the RSS search engine that is both speedy and free SearQ offers a RESTful API that simplifies the search for data from RSS feeds Finding what you need has never been easier with SearQ SEARQAPI search engine based on RSS feedsSearQ is a REST API that allows users to search for and retrieve information from RSS RDF site summary feeds Instead of relying on a traditional web crawling method it leverages the information contained in RSS feeds to present the most relevant and up to date results to the user The engine works by aggregating information from multiple RSS feeds indexing the content and allowing users to search through it using keywords or phrases By utilizing RSS feeds the search results are often more targeted and accurate making it easier for users to find the information they are looking for Additionally because the information is being pulled from a variety of sources users may also be exposed to a wider range of perspectives and opinions on a given topic curl G H Authorization Token TOKEN d q q data … View on GitHubIf you are a developer looking for a REST API for search I encourage you to take a look at SearQ You will find an open source project that can offer many customization options and a fast and scalable search experience 2023-03-22 10:40:38

EKS cluster Monitoring for AWS Fargate with Prometheus and managed GrafanaFirstly We need to create node group in our existing EKS cluster as metrics are inaccessible to Fargate Architecture Node name resource aws iam role policy attachment node AmazonECContainerRegistryReadOnly policy arn arn aws iam aws policy AmazonECContainerRegistryReadOnly role aws iam role node name Or we can create manually Go to AWS Management Console gt EKS gt Your cluster gt Compute gt Add node group We know that We have to use EC for Prometheus since will need volumes mounted to it While creating node group we have to attach an IAM role to EC worker nodes For easy demonstration I have created a new IAM role and attached policies as below Run the following command to confirm that your EC worker nodes are running properly pods are should be running state k get po n kube system grep aws nodeaws node jxdh Running daws node mxgq Running dNote Node exporter runs as a daemon set and is responsible for collecting metrics of the host it runs on Most of these metrics are low level operating system metrics like vCPU memory network disk of the host machine not containers and hardware statistics etc These metrics are inaccessible to Fargate customers since AWS is responsible for the health of the host machine Install EBS CSI driverPrometheus and Grafana needs persistent storage attached to them which is also called PV Persistent Volume in terms of Kubernetes For stateful workloads to use Amazon EBS volumes as PV we have to add aws ebs csi driver into the cluster Associating IAM role to Service accountBefore we add aws ebs csi driver we need to create an IAM role and associate it with Kubernetes service account Let s use an example policy file which you can download using the command below curl sSL o ebs csi policy json Now let s create a new IAM policy with that file export EBS CSI POLICY NAME AmazonEBSCSIPolicyexport AWS REGION eu west aws iam create policy region AWS REGION
