Working with JSON data in Amazon DynamoDBAmazon DynamoDB allows you to store JSON objects into attributes and perform many operations on these objects including filtering updating and deleting This is a very powerful capability because it allows applications to store objects JSON data arrays directly into DynamoDB tables and still retain the ability to use nested attributes within these objects in … |

My Programming journeyAlright so here you are welcome to this blog where I tell you what I had been doing for past few years In this blog I will be sharing my experiences challenges and successes as I navigate the vast and ever evolving world of programming Through this blog I hope to connect with like minded individuals and inspire others to pursue their own programming journeys So sit back grab a cup of coffee and join me on this exciting adventure Let s see how it all started Long long back I was looking up funny videos Crarryminati Slayy point on YouTube For some weird reason I got recommendations for Brackeys channel I was into it downloaded unity and started right away I basically did exactly what he was doing without understanding much I was thinking to myself why am I unable to build a project on my own Why can t I understand anything about unity Little did I know I was stuck in tut hell for F king years st PUI gave up on unity and started trying everything Literally everything From python to rust from Django to flask Silly websites to Discord bots everything End of the day I only got sprinkled knowledge on it This is also when I started watching more research videos on where babies come from I even started little bit of competitive programming I failed over and over again in everything downGuess where I landed after trying everything PHP I saw a YouTube recommendation from Yahoo baba and started with PHP playlist For the first half of lockdown I did just PHP One of my major projects in that is Orkut Actually it is a social media app discontinued by google I liked the name so I went on with it It was vanilla PHP It did have auth and basic crud operations which I called posts The next half I went on to Laravel and Vuejs I thought I could build Orkut better so I built a monolith application called Waddle This is the first project I did without much tutorials and let s just say I got out of tutorial hell CollegeI went to college and met a Legend Everyone might either be jack of all trades and master of none or master of one but not both But this guy is master of all trades With him on my side we completed many cool projects together It does help when your friends have same interest as you There is always a bigger fish This is markdown previewer built with alpine jsweather appAfter all these projects I thought I could build Waddle even better So I built Guild with nextjs on frontend and Laravel on backend I also discovered Tailwind around this time nd yearWe collaborated in a team of members to develop a project for a specific company and designed and implemented APIs to create Realtime location based system using leafletjs resulting in winning st place in the competition showcasing project to companyHackathon yeah that guy on the right is me We spent around hours without sleep just working on project Our hard work paid off and more importantly we got lots of experience and knowledge on team workI started hopping into frontend Frontend mentor was a major help to me without which I wouldn t have gotten better at frontend actually most of my small projects can be found here in UILibHere are some other things built thanks to frontend mentor rock paper scissors space tourismI know for a fact that I still have a long way to go I m nowhere near where I want to be and I will reach there But I have to end this post na so I ll end it here |

Beyond Content Creation: How Open Source Contributions Can Help You Get Noticed |
https://dev.to/opensauced/beyond-content-creation-how-open-source-contributions-can-help-you-get-noticed-4l5n
|
Beyond Content Creation How Open Source Contributions Can Help You Get NoticedI know I know It s kind of ironic to create content about not needing to create content to get noticed In recent years there s been a big push to have new developers create content to “get noticed But here s the thing creating content might feel daunting and discouraging for those who don t have the time or resources to create content regularly or it might take away from making progress in deepening your coding skills The good news is that there are other ways to get noticed without relying solely on content creation and in today s post we re going to talk about using open source to get noticed How to Get NoticedWhat if instead of spending hours a week creating content you spent that time working on contributing to open source It doesn t have to be an issue that majorly impacts a code base Start where you re comfortable get an understanding of open source working with other teams communicating looking at larger code bases and understanding how code works Benefits of Contributing to Open SourceVisibility At the very least you re going to be noticed by the people who are on that team and you ll be building in public There will be a public record of how you communicate with others approach the issue and of how you contributed Mentorship During that process you might find that you re able to receive mentorship from the maintainers as you work through the issue There are also many communities out there that provide support for new contributors Experience You ll grow as you work through the issue likely receive feedback that you ll need to implement before your PR is merged in and you ll demonstrate your ability to communicate with a team People will remember the way you communicate your code and how you communicate with the team In some instances these interactions have led to people being shortlisted as potential hires or even being invited to interview I once worked with a woman who told me that she really wanted to work for a particular company that had a really rigorous interview process that she knew she couldn t pass Instead she put her time into making contributions to their codebase betting that if she could prove herself that they d let her bypass the interview process That bet paid off And she s not the only one it s paid off for Build a Strong ResumeAccording to Indeed com hiring managers look at resumes for seconds on average How does your resume compare to other candidates who have pursued similar learning experiences Do you all have the same bootcamp projects Have you all listed the same classes Something that you can include on your resume that no one else can is your open source experience People often ask “How do I get experience as a software engineer if no one will hire me That s a valid and frustrating question Open source contributions are one way to get experience I recently talked to a hiring manager who said because of the competition for early career roles the best way to get a job is to become a mid level developer There are projects out there that will challenge you to learn and grow as part of the process It is doable to hit that next career level through contributing Build Your NetworkThere are more developers who are off social media than are on social media for tech So if you re following Tech Twitter for example you re only seeing a small percentage of those people working in tech By participating in open source you ll find a broader community of people in the industry who you can learn from participate with and ultimately grow with It doesn t have to start with a PR either You can answer questions in the discussion open an issue or direct people to resources in the community Discord Slack forum In the global market for tech talent open source provides credibility and an opportunity to showcase real world work that you ve done Now here s a little choose your own adventure to close out this post If you want to…learn about how to find a good first issue I recommend you read Brian Douglas Good First Issues Don t Exist find a project that s looking for contributors check out our Friday posts Who s looking for open source contributors Week and Week talk more about open source we ve got our Weekly Chat on Discord on Tuesdays at p EDT and our open mic Twitter Space on May am EDTーas well as every Wednesday for the next four weeks show off the open source contributions you ve already made add them to our highlight feed and maybe they ll even be featured in our next newsletter Shoutout to doaortu for their contribution to the GitHub CLI |

Mutable or Immutable: Understanding JavaScript's Yin and Yang |
https://dev.to/akramsmahmoud/mutable-or-immutable-understanding-javascripts-yin-and-yang-4ce4
|
Mutable or Immutable Understanding JavaScript x s Yin and YangAs a JavaScript developer understanding the concepts of mutability and immutability is crucial These concepts refer to the ability of an object to be changed or not Mutability means that an object can be altered while immutability means that an object cannot be changed once it is created Let s explore these concepts further and see how they can affect our code MutabilityIn JavaScript most objects are mutable by default This means that you can change their properties add new properties or even delete properties For example consider the following code let person name John age person age console log person In this example we are changing the value of the age property of the person object This is possible because objects in JavaScript are mutable While mutability can be useful in certain cases it can also lead to unexpected behavior Consider the following code let arr let arr arr arr push console log arr Output In this example we are creating two arrays arr and arr We then assign arr to arr which means that they both refer to the same object We then add a new element to arr which also modifies arr because they are the same object This can lead to unexpected bugs in our code ImmutabilityImmutability on the other hand means that an object cannot be changed once it is created In JavaScript primitive types such as strings and numbers are immutable This means that you cannot change their value once they are created For example consider the following code let str Hello str h console log str Output Hello In this example we are trying to change the first character of the str variable from H to h However since strings are immutable in JavaScript this has no effect on the value of str Immutability can be useful in certain cases because it can help prevent unexpected changes to our code For example consider the following code let arr let arr arr console log arr Output console log arr Output In this example we are creating a new array arr by using the spread operator to copy the elements of arr and adding a new element to the end This creates a new array and leaves the original arr unchanged ConclusionUnderstanding the concepts of mutability and immutability is important for writing reliable and bug free code in JavaScript While mutability can be useful in certain cases it can also lead to unexpected behavior and bugs Immutability on the other hand can help prevent unexpected changes to our code and make it more reliable |

AI-created music is here, now what? |

AI created music is here now what About half a year ago I started up a discussion called How far off is AI created music How far off is AI created music Michael Tharrington for music discussions・Oct ・ min read discuss music ai Well apparently it wasn t far off at all arguably it was already happening but now it s newsworthy Just look at the viral release of Heart on My Sleeve a track dropped by the anonymous ghostwriter that uses AI generated vocals to mimic Drake and The Weekend and the subsequent action by Drake and The Weekend s record label UMG to order the song taken down from platforms like TikTok Spotify YouTube SoundCloud and others There s a good breakdown of the situation in scofieldidehen s recent post AI in Music The Future of Music AI in Music The Future of Music Scofield Idehen・Apr ・ min read ai deeplearning machinelearning music So I m curious what y all think about all this do you see AI generated music that mimics an artist s voice writing style and instrumentation as morally wrong Or on the other hand do you know of anybody out there who is using AI to generate original music rather than trying to closely mimic existing music What other thoughts do you have on all this |

Meta x s next Quest games showcase is June stMeta is once again holding a VR gaming event and it won t be hard to tune in The company has announced a minute Quest Gaming Showcase streaming June st at PM Eastern through Facebook Horizon Worlds Twitch and YouTube You can expect the usual batches of new games and gameplay footage but this year s presentation will include a pre show starting at PM ET featuring title updates and debut trailers After the fact there will be deep dive talks with developers The tech firm is unsurprisingly quiet on specifics However we wouldn t count on new hardware Meta previously noted that its next mainstream Quest headset will arrive later this year If so the virtual event may represent a swan song for the Quest that highlights its last big games before its successor arrives The showcase comes at an important time for Meta It recently completed its buyout of Within the developer of the VR fitness game Supernatural The industry heavyweight is still struggling to pivot to the metaverse too Its Reality Labs unit is still losing billions of dollars each quarter and it recently cut the price of the Quest Pro by a third to to spur adoption The gaming event isn t likely to turn things around but it may sustain interest in Meta s VR platform ahead of new headsets This article originally appeared on Engadget at |

The second-gen Apple Pencil returns to its lowest price ever |
https://www.engadget.com/the-second-gen-apple-pencil-returns-to-its-lowest-price-ever-163705136.html?src=rss
|
The second gen Apple Pencil returns to its lowest price everThe Apple Pencil has dropped back down to at Amazon and Best Buy which is a percent savings over the usual list price It s the lowest the stylus has sold for since its debut though we ve seen it drop this low a few timesbefore It s also on sale at Target but you ll pay about a dollar more if you get it there We think the Apple Pencil is one of the best accessories for your iPad and it s compatible with most late model iPad Airs minis and Pros nbsp The second generation Apple Pencil stores and charges magnetically at the side of your tablet so you don t need to keep track of cables A double tap function lets you change tools quickly and the low lag makes it responsive for drawing and note taking Features like pressure sensitivity and tilt capabilities make the stylus feel more like a real drawing tool particularly when paired with a textured screen protector I particularly enjoy using the pencil to write in text fields a process that s surprisingly accurate and faster than tapping out words with the on screen keyboard nbsp The usual MSRP of makes it an expensive accessory so it s nice to see it drop to a more reasonable price The only other caveat is compatibility The latest generation standard iPad is still tied to the first generation Pencil which is on sale at Amazon for and at Target for So if you have that tablet you can still save on a stylus that will work with it nbsp Follow EngadgetDeals on Twitter and subscribe to the Engadget Deals newsletter for the latest tech deals and buying advice This article originally appeared on Engadget at |

Logitech made Google's Project Starline video conferencing booth — minus holograms |
https://www.engadget.com/logitech-made-googles-project-starline-video-conferencing-booth--minus-holograms-163058592.html?src=rss
|
Logitech made Google x s Project Starline video conferencing booth ーminus hologramsFor better or worse video calls have become an integral part of our lives Whether you re chatting with a loved one who s oceans away or collaborating with teammates across timezones sitting in front of a webcam or holding up your phone is an inescapable reality That s why many companies have developed products meant to make video calls feel more natural ーlike NVIDIA s Broadcast tool to make it look like you re maintaining eye contact even if you aren t and Google s experimental D telepresence or holographic booths But Logitech is introducing something that uses dead simple technology to make video chats more like the real world experience The company announced Project Ghost in January and recently invited us to check out a functioning version in New York nbsp The premise is straightforward Instead of futzing around with holograms or algorithms that make your pupils look like you re staring at a camera Logitech simply embedded its existing Rally Plus video conferencing system into a booth it teamed up with furniture maker Steelcase to create The result is a booth that s like a larger business class seat but not quite first class with walls about feet inches tall Light brown wooden slats line the exterior matching the panels inside On one side sits a hollow wall that s almost two feet thick with a screen inside it and a mirror below that placed at a perpendicular angle Facing the TV is a light pink couch a side table with a touchscreen control panel on it and some green plants behind that With its warm colors soft curves pink couch and greenery the booth felt very inviting I quickly collapsed onto the sofa and was slightly surprised to see a woman staring back at me She appeared life sized and it felt as if our eyes met even though she was sitting in a similar booth all the way in Boston Since the camera is embedded behind the display it was easy for me to peer into her face and on the other end of the call it would look like I was staring right at her nbsp Though Logitech executives at the demo told me the video quality was capped at p and was more likely streaming at p or lower I initially thought the woman I was calling was rendered in K But the clarity and realism that I had assumed was a result of high resolution was more likely because I wasn t used to talking to someone on such a large screen Normally I take my calls on a inch laptop and even when I m in a meeting room with my colleagues faces plastered on a inch TV I didn t get the sense that they were right in front of me The only time I felt like there was some distortion was when I heard feedback of my voice during parts of the demo I couldn t tell where the speakers and mics were embedded in the space so I didn t get to adjust or learn how to move to avoid the echoes But for the most part the meeting was smooth and when the company s executives finally left the space for me to be alone with the caller I was able to relax Though I was only looking at the person s upper body I was able to note small changes in body language like posture It s not a perfect replacement for a real world conversation but possibly because I wasn t on my laptop I was a lot more focused than I normally am on calls Much of that sense of realism and privacy might have to do with the setup of the booth Behind the couch is a black wall while above the TV box is a horizontal light with a filtered effect and together they make the caller look well lit and in focus The fact that both me and the person I m talking to are staring at our upper bodies and heads with nothing else in the background removes any distraction LogitechOf course you could achieve something similar by investing in a tripod a backdrop a dedicated camera and spend a lot less money but this product isn t meant for the average consumer Logitech said it received a lot of interest from companies wanting to order the booths for their office spaces and that it was looking into iterating on the design to make them more suitable for different scenarios nbsp In addition to bigger setups for multiple people the current couch is designed for one person Logitech said it could also come up with something people could buy for home use I could see Ghost being incredibly useful for calls with my therapist telehealth appointments or even just as a dedicated livestreaming station But considering Logitech estimates selling each unit for about to depending on the size or style this is probably something I can only look at in envy If you have that sort of money to spare the company said it would be ready to sell these in the fall This article originally appeared on Engadget at |

Amazon is making over Prime Video originals available for freeAmazon has announced it s making over Prime Video original series and movies available on Freevee its free streaming service It seems to be a natural part of the lifespan for exclusive video content these days In April HBO and Warner Brothers made a bunch of their shows available for free on Roku some of which originally aired on TV The full list of Prime original content expanding to Freevee isn t available yet but titles will include The Summer I Turned Pretty The Wheel of Time Late Night Troop Zero and Reacher The plus titles won t all arrive at once as Amazon reports that new series and movies will become available on Freevee throughout the year It appears that Amazon is dedicated to using Freevee to capture the free streaming market Last year it rebranded IMDB TV into Freevee in a move it said reflected the streaming service s free access ーother names reportedly in consideration included quot Zon quot and quot Free TV quot Ads are likely a small inconvenience for many people when Amazon Prime starts at a month or a year for individuals You can access Freevee through Amazon and its Fire TV stick or as an independent app on iOS Android Xbox most smart TVs and other systems nbsp Freevee already produces a range of original content like America s Test Kitchen The Next Generation and Judy Justice The streamer also offers titles outside the Amazon production family including Schitt s Creek John Wick and Bones nbsp This article originally appeared on Engadget at |
