海外TECH	DEV Community	Parsing cookie strings in Java with HttpCookie	https://dev.to/pavel_polivka/parsing-cookie-strings-in-java-with-httpcookie-5gol	Parsing cookie strings in Java with HttpCookieThe other day I was solving a very complex bug involving some sticky session cookies and multiple reverse proxies During the bug solving process I discovered that I need to parse set cookie header strings and do some value filtering in one of our reverse proxies My first idea was to write some kind of regex that would parse the string and get me my desired values I went with something like this Here is a regexer link Turns out this is more complex than simple regex One string can contain multiple cookies optional parameters etc Then there is an issue with multiple formats of how the cookie string can look like I would need to write a lot of logic around my regex Naturally I am a bit lazy so I started looking into what Java can offer There must be an existing solution for this I found a class named HttpCookie Usage is very simple List lt HttpCookie gt cookies HttpCookie parse cookie It will parse all the cookies in the string into a collection of objects that have all the needed info private final String name NAME Name style is reserved private String value value of NAME Attributes encoded in the header s cookie fields private String comment Comment VALUE describes cookie s use private String commentURL CommentURL http URL describes cookie s use private boolean toDiscard Discard discard cookie unconditionally private String domain Domain VALUE domain that sees cookie private long maxAge MAX AGE UNSPECIFIED Max Age VALUE cookies auto expire private String path Path VALUE URLs that see the cookie private String portlist Port portlist the port cookie may be returned to private boolean secure Secure e g use SSL private boolean httpOnly HttpOnly i e not accessible to scripts private int version Version RFC styleThis saved me a lot of time	2021-07-22 08:24:45

opportunity to code some new bright features Probably not today But very soon Second day One of your team member sends you an email with the link to a repository Cool Clone the repository install dependencies run the application or wait you have to update to config file Ok Ask about it your teammate she or he said Let s take a look at this after standup Standup After standup you get this config file Finally you could run the application What s next Coding Not yet Your team leader may say Please go through the code base and if you have any questions please ask Third day You have read some code but the code base is huge You ask some questions but you want to write a code right Ok you get the ticket in Jira created specially for you I believe this is some bug You fixed it Send a pull request Forget about the test Update And the pull request accepted Congratulations Your first commit in the code base Next days look pretty much the same but you are getting more context about the application and getting more complex tickets But now you have to work on your soft skills as well to handle the situations like You have a ticket and deadline very next day but it depends on another team member s work and she or he has not finished yet You estimate the ticket for days but on the second day you can see a problem and it turned out that it may take one week In your pull request the reviewer adds a comment and you do not agree with it You sent a pull request one week ago and it is still not accepted I think you get the idea what situations I am talking about As you can see your first days will be not only about coding It will be also about working on your soft skills I have asked product managers in my team two questions What do you expect from a junior
